You’re a Palestinian, and I’m a secular Muslim. When you talk about Islam in a certain way, it’s sometimes offensive. But that’s what free speech is about. If free speech is only speech you like, it’s not free speech. Bill Maher: Nobody stopped him. He was invited to give a speech. People can listen, agree or disagree. That’s the essence of the American system. Rula Jebreal: Really? And live? I’ve travelled the Middle East. Is there a gay bar in Gaza? Rula Jebreal: You’re treating the Muslim community in this country like a fifth column. They’re underrepresented in the media and in politics. You never invite them here to discuss these issues. Bill Maher: What I want is not a war on Islam. I want to win the war on terror. When you repeat the same things Al-Qaeda says, you’re doing their work for them. Rula Jebreal: Every time I say something you don’t like, suddenly it’s not a serious conversation, or I’m a bigot. Either I say exactly what you want, or I’m a bigot. Bill Maher: The majority are being blamed for the criminal acts of a minority. Unfortunately, the majority are disorganised, while a small minority is well organised.
