Heads up, I'm going through and unfollowing people here that I find and follow on the sky blue site. My twitter data is ready to download and I want to get rid of this account as soon as I can.

The complete ignorance and incompetence of Gov. Landry and the Louisiana Republican House of Representatives to destroy the 30 year billion dollar film industry in our state proves they have no economic expertise. This is one of the greatest acts of financial malfeasance in the history of Louisiana
The Louisiana House of Representatives voted Tuesday to eliminate the stateβs $150 million tax incentive for film and TV production, as part of a broad package of measures to reduce the state income tax. variety.com/2024/film/news/lβ¦

The Office of Government Efficiency is off to a great start with split leadership: two people to do the work of one person.
Yeah, this seems REALLY efficient.

I just got informed by a volunteer for the Democratic Party that my vote hasnβt been counted because my absentee ballot needs to be cured. The North Carolina Supreme Court race still hasnβt been called & as they continue to count more votes the Republicanβs lead keeps shrinking

I could write volumes on why we are where we are, and I'm sure you could too. But if I had to condense it all into two words, they would be:
DSINFORMATION and NORMALIZATION.

AOC asked her followers who split their ballots either for Trump/her or Trump/downballot Dem to explain why and posted the replies:
I think it's time. I'm going to try and migrate to Bluesky and/or Threads and leave this misogynistic, Nazi-fueled platform. I can't endorse this site by staying here. I'm nicbrewer and nicbrewerkc, respectively, if you want to find me.

The infighting left of center is mind blowing. Do you understand that this is how they continue to win even after the election? Have conversations, see what went wrong, but stop finger pointing and throwing people under the bus. You are fueling the right wind propaganda machine.

Brian is 100% right. The "Democrats need a liberal Joe Rogan" discourse is stupid. Rogan is a famous comedian, reality TV host, and MMA commentator who built a huge audience unique to him. It wasn't a liberal or conservative project. We should go on Rogan not think we need to invent a new one. Democrats have a different media problem, which is that Republicans have invested tons of money and time into building a right-wing media ecosystem. It's not just Fox News, it's The Federalist, Breitbart, the Free Beacon, etc... Democrats need to invest time and money into growing progressive media. Trump is constantly doing interviews with right-wing outlets and hosts that liberals have never heard of, while progressive networks like @CrookedMedia are treated like an afterthought because campaigns think, we have those voters locked down, rather than being creative about how to amplify content from progressive outlets or use those platforms to turn people into volunteers and evangelists. Yes, I am saying this from a selfish perspective as a host of @PodSaveAmerica, but it's frustrating to have built an independent media company and show with a huge audience only to have it ignored.
A note to Dem politicians and campaigns: You won't persuade voters with a one-off appearance on a popular podcast the week before the election (which is not a knock on Harris' campaign; she only had a couple months so they did all they could). The reason Republicans are winning over so many young people is because the right invests hours and hours, everyday, every month, every year in audience-building among its influencer class. We can't compete by sticking our candidates on an episode one time in October of an election year. Democrats need to embrace YEAR-ROUND progressive media (either directly political or political-adjacent) if we want to compete. But you cannot only remember independent media outlets exist 2 weeks before an election-- not in a media environment where the vast majority of Americans (and practically ALL persuadable Americans) are consuming content on alternative outlets.

Wow. Outstanding thread, with the receipts, on how the Far Right used pink-slime printed newspapers in key swing counties.

A majority of votes. After being found liable for sexual abuse, convicted of felonies, and inciting a coup attempt. In a more decrepit and incoherent state than ever. Against a qualified and historic candidate.
