Pleased to have written for @CapX on pension reforms, what they mean and some ongoing issues: lnkd.in/eSWD8Arw
They could have gone further but this is definitely a positive step. There are things to watch out for including everyone trying to get their hands on the cash!
"Finally, after a series of missteps and backward steps, we are seeing something which might amount to the beginnings of a growth agenda from the Government (even more pressing after this morning’s quarterly growth figures)..."

This piece by the CEO of @TimothyTaylors brewery shd be required reading for politicians / officials who haven’t worked outside govt. A sad indictment of current and recent governments (including ones I worked in) failing to support the private sector

Since the Election, the Govt has cancelled plans to sell NatWest shares to the public & abandoned the British ISA. Now the PM has said that people with income from shares do not fit his definition of 'working people'.
Not sure they're as keen on retail investing as I am.
This is completely absurd. The CMA is holding up a £2.5bn merger in the property industry because of concerns about the housing market in one 11 mile part of Shropshire. gov.uk/government/news/barra…
First realised how much I cared about the 4x200 metre freestyle three years ago. Can’t believe I had forgotten about that until now.
Thanks to @michael_lynas and @duolingo for a fascinating session with @LordBlunkett, @CamCavendish and Lord Mandelson this evening.
Bashing the unions, criticising some university leadership - yet also offering a positive vision for the future of UK Universities. V insightful.

Sunday night sport. Come for England in the Euros; stay for Rory McIlroy in the US Open. It’s going to be a nail-biting last hour and a half.
A pleasure and a privilege to be at #TroopingTheColour this morning.
Captive audience at @UKREiiF - Mayors, MPs, candidates and others listening to the PM announce the next General Election.

Good to see the Chancellor embracing @CPSThinkTank's proposals (via @nickphking & @johnredwood) for using NatWest share sales to drive ownership.
Probably not quite the time for it… but imagine what would have happened if we had picked Ben Foakes for the Ashes.
Standing room only for @instituteforgov event on devolution and regional growth. Insightful comments from @JimfromOldham @olivercoppard @SebastianEPayne and Sophie White from @avivainvestors . All agree direction of travel is only one way and v positive - but much further to go.
In July I published Retail Therapy with @CPSThinkTank, outlining various measures to get more people investing in stock and shares. I called for a new Tell Sid moment & suggested the Govt should sell its NatWest shares to individual investors - great to see these ideas picked up!
The NatWest retail offer is another @CPSThinkTank win - as called for in @nickphking's Retail Therapy (which also stressed the importance of a new 'Tell Sid' campaign) cps.org.uk/research/retail-t… and @johnredwood's 'The Power of Ownership'
Loved being at @CCNOffice Annual Conference the last couple of days, talking about some of the challenges and opportunities facing county areas.
Great to be able to talk through new Henham political analysis about why counties really matter for the next General Election too.
🗳️ "CCN areas are a really important part of the electoral map for the general election."
@nickphking outlines new analysis which shows the importance of county constituencies as we hear from @SebastianEPayne @jesstud @ADOBrien88 on what manifestos should offer those areas ⬇️

I criticise NIMBYs a lot, so it's only fair to give praise where praise is due. 👏 @VirendraSharma I completely agree with this letter
