Here’s a company that understood the assignment. The purpose of the AI was always to do cool shit with cool people. And play is the only way to usher in a new era of human flourishing. The age of AI can be beautiful, magical, and humanist. Long Midjourney.
Midjourney is acquiring Co-Star. CEO @banu__guler is now Chief Design Officer at Midjourney. She's building a cross-functional design, product and frontend team for all our efforts. The Co-Star app will continue to operate under Banus complete control. Welcome Banu and team <3

The temptation to pursue “meta problems” is at an all time high among high achievers. Because software engineering is now comparatively easier with AI, it’s reducing this skillset to making a WordPress website. As a result, those types of products feel less compelling to work on. And people chasing their own self importance now have to up level to pursue increasingly meta problems. Instead of solving the problem itself what if I build the infrastructure to solve the problem which is why we are seeing so many AI “AI researcher”, AI material scientist, AI scientist concepts now. This is not necessarily a bad thing because people are elevating their ambition to pursue bigger challenge but comes at the price of people’s pursuits becoming increasingly abstract and removed from actual human problems.

My biggest pet peeve is people phrasing things in a purposefully extremely vague way because they don’t actually know what they are talking about but don’t want to let on that they don’t know. VCs are masters at this and do this all day every day - listen for statement that can be interpreted both ways. The “known” fact is buried as an assumption to an expert in the field and the VC gets to hide their ignorance. Knowledge is precise!
