Ducks Unlimited is opposed to the sale of public lands through reconciliation and without due process, and is actively engaged in the defense of America’s public estate. Our current efforts are particularly focused on protecting the National Wildlife Refuge System, the integrity of conservation easements, and the Prairie Potholes that generations of duck hunters have invested in.

My student Griffin just sent me this profoundly sad photo of a Great Bowerbird bower. The painting on the right depicts what the bower should look like, filled with pebbles, shells, and bones. Nowadays, the birds use what they can most easily find in their surroundings: garbage.
Wow, top notch useful stuff!
Excited to elevate the work of 2 of my former PhD students: Dennis Kim just published the second chapter of his PhD - a review of memory-informed SSFs in Movement Ecology and @Fabi_Iannarilli published a How-to guide for using hierarchical models to quantify activity patters.
Enjoyed stopping in to see friends and catch ducks at the historic Forbes Biological Research Station! @ForbesStation @ABlakeBradshaw #ducks #waterfowl #research #duckmanagement
Super cool bird ecoevo research!
Replying to @evornithology
These cool results speak to the power of tracking complicated mating patterns across long-term datasets. These types of multi-generational environmental benefits may be more common, but are simply hard to detect! journals.uchicago.edu/doi/10… 8/8
So excited to be use “zugunruhe” in a publication! If you know, you know. Take a look at spring migration strategies of MAV mallards 🦆 academic.oup.com/auk/advance…

A research idea born in a duck blind matures into a $2 million cutting-edge study? Darn right, it did! And you can learn more about it on the latest episodes of the only podcast about all things waterfowl. Dr. @mgbrasher is joined by Tennessee Technological University's Dr. Abby Blake-Bradshaw and Dr. Nick Masto for their long-awaited discussion about the study we've all heard about—the wintering ecology of mallards in the Mid-South.
Check out 'Ep. 582 – Studying Mallard Ducks in Western Tennessee' and 'Ep. 583 – Bumping Birds: What Are We Learning About Ducks, Sanctuary, and Hunters?' wherever you access podcasts.

Extraordinary conservation vision and philanthropy for a hopeful outlook on habitat conservation in the most important region in North America for waterfowl and many other grassland and wetland bird species
DU News: Longtime corporate partner @CoxEnterprises is establishing a fund to support conservation in honor of Jim Kennedy, chairman emeritus of Cox and chairman of the James M. Cox Foundation. The $100 million gift from the newly established fund will go directly towards Ducks Unlimited’s land trust, Wetlands America Trust, to help conserve North America’s prairie region.
