Ken Knowlton's UN Declaration of Human Rights (1970), positions the viewer between the promise of universal rights and the person to whom it applies - drawing attention to the distance between the declaration of rights and their protection in practice. From the @SpalterDigital Collection.

Caught a new sculptural install on my morning run — Untitled by Bill Barrett, 1975-76. "It took a while for me to figure out a way to truly control the metal. It evolved." Bill Barrett, quoted in Philip F. Palmedo's Bill Barrett: Evolution of a Sculptor (2003), pp. 10–11.

gm gm, good people! Here is today's study! It's my most ambitious reconstruction - and reimagining - of A. Michael Noll's "Gaussian-Quadratic," 1963. For an inspiring account of Noll's ouevre, see: ragnardigital.art/stories/a-…

New images for NY mag power issue on AI technologists using AI-VHS pipeline I’ve been working through responding to the epic revival of VHS in AI marketing
One way to tell the story of how AI is changing our world is through some newly familiar names: Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, Jensen Huang. But an astonishing amount of power rests in the hands of a few dozen other people, some virtually anonymous. Many of these people are tasked with shaping how the public, or a company, thinks about AI. Some are reimagining how we interact with AI, such as developing models that could change our relationship to work. Others are spinning up advocacy groups with a single check. For our annual “Power” issue, we partnered with @TransformersMag, a publication with a command of the politics within transformative AI, to surface 26 people whose influence on the AI landscape far outstrips their fame. We then commissioned multimedia artist @dennnnnnnnny to create images of each. These individuals are remarkably intertwined: Many share offices, homes, and funding. The list’s average age is 36. It is overwhelmingly male. These names come from both private and public sectors, so you’ll find founders and engineers as well as lawmakers and regulators. Most importantly, they still have everything to play for. Read our list of the 26 power brokers who are quietly shaping the future of AI: nymag.visitlink.me/wjgAC-

gm gm! Noah Bolanowski's description of A. Michael Noll's "Gaussian-Quadratic" works as the up-and-down movement of a mathematically constrained line is irresistibly inspiring. Here's my first small scale attempt to play more accurately with Noll's beautiful ideas.

Do you ever see [computer-generated art] as becoming an artwork in its own right? Andy Warhol in 1985: “Oh yeah... Steven Sprouse really did most of his artwork this way. He did his last print, I think, with the planets and stuff, in this way. Beautiful things, geeze!"

Mechanical Reverie creating new visual directions inspired by Keith Haring's "The computer generation is gonna make changes that we can't even imagine at this point. I mean, everyone sort of has a hand in... in sort of creating reality and inventing reality... They're gonna take it places that we can't even imagine yet." As always inspired by @Noahbolanowski

less private club memberships, more public museum memberships 💯
Some dream of getting into exclusive golf, tennis, beach, and country clubs with strict admission criteria. Meanwhile, my ultimate VIP clubs require zero waitlists, no board approval, and just a tiny entry fee: No dress code, no exclusivity—just pure magic available to anyone.

While Andy Warhol's interrogations with the computer are often reduced to being strictly commercial, the pop artist would ultimately produce a small volume of works on his own accord — prompted, but not dictated by Commodore. Read my Essay: linkedin.com/pulse/reexamini…

"In the final years of his life, acutely aware of the evaporation of his public works by proxy of his increasingly commodified fame, the computer would offer Haring a similar visual ubiquity achieved through his subway practice, but with an accessible permanence intended to reach generations beyond his own — a generation growing up with screens, games, and light." xitter.gq/Noahbolanowski/status/…
Excited to share my essay for Martos Gallery's More Light The culmination of 3+ years of personal research into the computer’s proliferation within the studios of Pop Art's most important artists, the essay traces Keith Haring's expansive digital oeuvre across nearly a decade.
