ALT After Biden export pause, Delfin LNG requests until 2029 to begin shipping gas On March 1, 2024, Delfin LNG LLC requested a five-year extension from the Department of Energy (DOE) to begin exporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) to countries without a free trade agreement with the U.S. (non-FTA countries) from the proposed deepwater off the coast of Louisiana.

ALT In January, the Biden Administration paused LNG exports to non-FTA countries, pending a review of the DOE's export approval process. Delfin LNG will be the first of 10 long-delayed LNG export terminals to test the DOE’s new policy on deadlines to begin exporting LNG. If approved, Delfin would have until June 1, 2029, to begin exporting up to 12 million metric tons of LNG per year.
