Your job as a creative is to die empty. Build all of your ideas. Leave nothing un-created.
Better to be about the work than the money and the status The work will always be there and it will never fail: There is always more to do.

tl:dr 1. Keep an idea log that you can access anywhere. 2. Periodically go through the log and connect similar ideas, cull duds. 3. Identity themes in ideas, clock principal curiosity. 4. Build the idea u'r most curious about.

the identity crisis of having to choose between speed of building and quality of craft 🤡 check on your designer builder friends, they're not okay.

u think Y can hurt me? i've lived multiple lives in 10 years graphic designer (photoshop) -> UI designer (illustrator) -> product designer (figma) -> product builder (claude code) in 10 years.

my problem with vibe designing is that you need a lengthy prompt for a small change. effort > reward. nah uh.

too soon. Figma is still good as a source of truth. get your agents to create the final approved prototype in Figma if only for the canvas and collaboration for now.
Revolut's designers are moving off Figma. Storonsky spotted one team designing much faster than the others. What they did: 1. Gave an LLM Revolut's design system at the code level 2. Prompted it to build new flows on top of that system 3. Got a live interface they can click through on a laptop or phone, instead of static frames Result: 3-4x faster. Now he's pushing it to every designer at Revolut. His job, as he describes it: find what works in one team and spread it across the company. Full breakdown here: productmarketfit.tech/p/revo…

(I’m speaking from a place of hope that Figma will still be able to pivot in time)

AI is hated because it allows non-experts to masquerade as experts

first sign of tech market recovering: they’re hiring interns again.
who are the smartest / most talented college students you know? i'd like to fast-track them into an @a16z-backed startup for their next internship or full-time role

tech market must really be in the dumps if DHH has to resort to ragebait for engagement

getting (begging) the first few users to sign up on to your product does the most damage to your street cred I said what I said

Put two designers in isolated rooms with the same brief. They’ll come up with completely different designs. Do the same for AI and you’ll figure out the subjective part.

Good product design is: 1. Logic - which is not universally applicable 3. Consumer psychology - that doesn't apply to all users 4. Subtraction - Simplifying to the bare essentials 5. Taste - which is a culmination of good curation over a lifetime ask yourself, can all of the above be codified? can AI do that? trust me, your job as a designer is safe.

I’ve been working on something for the past few months, and I’m finally ready to share it with you. The Poster Manual is officially here. As a self-taught designer, I’ve spent years learning through experimentation, making mistakes, and creating hundreds of posters along the way. I wanted to take everything I’ve learned and turn it into something useful for other designers. Something I wish I had when I was starting out. If you’re a beginner who’s curious about poster design but doesn’t know where to start, I made this course for you. My goal is to help you think differently, experiment more, and become more confident in your work. I’m really excited to finally put this out into the world, and I hope it becomes a meaningful part of your creative journey. Enroll now at thepostermanual.com

praise be to AI-overlords for killing the 'should designers code' argument

two designers, in isolated rooms with the same brief, will come up with entirely different designs btw in case you were wondering if design is dead.
