Flying in for opening day at the new Belmont on Friday. Anyone have the inside scoop on what will be open and whether certain areas have a dress code? Also, is the alleged hole that Swift reported damn near killed a guy marked on the track map?

1/ For more than a decade, my friend Bob and I have been arguing about one scene in The Fugitive:
Was Tommy Lee Jones’s character actually trying to kill Harrison Ford?
In 2019, I emailed the screenwriter. To my everlasting gratitude, he replied.
Today, I contacted Tommy Lee Jones’s agent. I do not expect a reply
We have lost all perspective.

That’s one of the greatest catches of all time. Absolutely insane. His foot hovered!
I agree that the tracks don’t care. They are making money hand over fist with the Caws and could give 2 shits less about the everyday gambler. But just like how technology can giveth it can taketh away. Somebody will invent a daily fantasy platform for horse racing where you skip the tote pool. Bet against other horse players every race or in contests. Don’t need the tracks. That can happen
OR
Pressure on lawmakers. There is no way Stronach and NYRA etc should be allowed to own or parter with CAWS. No other sport would ever allow this in a billion years. It’s insider trading. Horse Racing is just flying under the radar and tracks are being as greedy as possible until they are forced to stop

I lived in Wisconsin for the better part of four decades. This still qualifies as a beautiful spring day in my book -- in other words, I'm on my way to Keeneland!
It is see-your-breath cold, but the sun is shining for the biggest day of the #Keeneland spring meet.

@larrycollmus with one of the greatest calls of all-time!
Every time I see him work, I think something along the lines of, "Man, @nickluck is just really good at his job." Just casually strolling around the paddock describing the scene, checking in with people as he goes ... amazing stuff. Kudos, Nick -- you're a real pro.
2024 Kentucky Derby thoughts, also summed up in a photo:

Looks like the track may end up drying out OK by race time, so some of the musings on off track performance may be irrelevant after all. Or not.
Good luck!
Spending more time on horses again now that CBB is wrapping up. Some hypothetical lineups for the Keeneland card today ...
Here's my take on the #PegasusWorldCup.
I like FIRST MISSION more -- I'd bet him at our projected of 3/1 (I use decimal pricing below). Otherwise, pretty similar -- we have TRADEMARK and SENOR flipped on projected, but if I'm right, looks like David would be betting SENOR, too.
Here's my fair odds line for the #PegasusWorldCup, alongside my best guess at expected post-time odds.
(Fair odds are based on my opinion. I'm sure many will have a different take... it's that kind of race.)
I was torn between using NOBALS and CARAVEL in the Turf Sprint.
I chose wrong.
Irad couldn't keep SEARCH RESULTS straight down the lane; really looked like she was primed to go by, but just kept lugging in. Great run from IDIOMATIC to press those fractions and just keep finding all the way to the wire.

R7: It's not that IDIOMATIC isn't a deserving favorite in the #BreedersCup Distaff -- she's just not *that* deserving. With all the speed in this race -- it will be especially interesting to see what the Chad Brown horses do -- my best bet is an underrated closer: WET PAINT.
That's a win on the win and the exacta, even though the off odds ended up being inverted vs. what I expected. What a race!

R6: The presence of SONGLINE and KELINA makes it difficult to be super confident -- I just really don't know how good they are -- but outside of those two, I certainly prefer MASTER OF THE SEAS at much longer odds than MAWJ in the #BreedersCup Mile.
MOIRA looked amazing turning for home, making the late money that came in on her look like smart money. But she hung a bit in the lane, and as mentioned, INSPIRAL was certainly a worthy favorite. I was pretty solidly against the 2, unfortunately, so no exotic hits in that one.
Replying to @noneedtocallit
R4: MOIRA hasn't been good enough at this level in the past, but she shouldn't be >20/1 as I project. She's the best bet, but I wouldn't talk anyone off of backing INSPIRAL. IN ITALIAN is worth watching on the tote as she could get an easy lead if FEV ROVER starts slow.
