Lots of great coverage from @noroneill and @JoeBReporter for anyone looking to catch up! US Senate race in SC converges on Rock Hill as candidates vie for Ralph Norman loyalists charlotteobserver.com/news/p…
Amazing how little coverage the Ralph Norman and family decision regarding SCSEN is getting compared to MISEN.

President Donald Trump rallied in Rock Hill on behalf of US Sen. Darline Graham ahead of Tuesday's election. Team coverage allows for well-rounded coverage Here's a thread of @mcclatchy's coverage from reporters and photographers from the @theobserver, @RHHerald and @thestate:

NEW from @JoeBReporter and @noroneill: The elephant in the room on the eve of a President Donald Trump rally for U.S. Sen. Darline Graham was someone not even in the race. It was U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman, the Rock Hill native who ran for both governor and senator this year. #scpol

As you may have heard, several of my colleagues at The Charlotte Observer were laid off yesterday. It was a very tough day for all of us and we lost some very good people who contributed a lot to the coverage of this community we all love so much. There's a go-fund me to help them. Please contribute if you can, and please share. gofundme.com/f/help-charlott…

My job covering SC politics and government for The State was eliminated yesterday. Reporting here has been a dream, and I’ve loved writing for my community. I’m very sad to leave, but I’m so grateful for everyone I worked with at the newspaper.
This week, members of The State News Guild were among the scores of McClatchy employees who had their jobs eliminated in the latest round of layoffs. These included valuable members of the Columbia newsroom, including:

Jeff is a talented reporter, great teammate and wonderful person. He, like everyone else in this layoff, deserved better. Horrible loss for the community and this amazing city we call home.
Today I found out I was one of eight Charlotte Observer reporters who will be laid off. In two weeks we - and many, many more at other McClatchy papers - will all be jobless. I don’t really know what else to say other than I hope people with job leads will help us out.

Please consider donating to the numerous Charlotte Observer employees laid off this week! A huge loss for our newsroom.
McClatchy layoffs affected a third of our reporting staff in Charlotte. They covered vital beats. A paper without an education or investigative reporter? A head-scratcher. There's a lot to say, but for now I'll leave it at: please help, if you can. gofund.me/b0b34f55c

The Charlotte Observer today laid off 8 reporters. They helped the paper tonight secure — for the first time in years — a 1st place General Excellence NC press award. I hope McClatchy figures it out before our newsrooms and their communities suffer again.
