Today I had the honor of attending the Richland Two Special Education Graduation Ceremony alongside fellow board members Angela Nash, Tamika Washington, Niki Porter, and Shelley Williams. This was truly one of the most heartfelt and inspiring ceremonies I have attended. Hearing the stories shared by teachers about each graduate reminded everyone in the room that success is not measured by one path alone. Every student had a story of perseverance, growth, determination, and impact on their school community. You could feel just how much these students meant to their teachers, classmates, and schools. It was incredibly special to personally present each graduate with their diploma and witness the joy, pride, and emotion from families and staff. Every graduate touched the hearts of their respective schools in a unique way, and tonight was a celebration of all they have overcome and accomplished. We were also honored to hear from guest speaker Harold Hughes, a Richland Northeast High School graduate, successful businessman, and author, whose message was both inspiring and encouraging for our graduates as they begin their next chapter. A special thank you to the amazing band from E.L. Wright Middle School for the outstanding music and to the incredible staff of the Performing Arts Center for hosting such a beautiful event.
