Out of 27 EU member states, @avucic found the one leader who still thinks countries get to choose their own friends. How very autocratic of him. Birds of a feather, indeed, though poles apart from your flock, which presumes it’s entitled to decide who’s allowed to exist in European politics.
A lengthy text, Ferit, yet not the slightest mention of the binding UNSC Resolution 1244 or the equally binding 2013 Brussels Agreement (pacta sunt servanda?).
Peace, reconciliation and a common European future can be built only on solid foundations, where respect for our neighbours’ territorial integrity is the default. Our respect for the Republic of Albania is beyond question, but your continuous insistence on carving out part of our country poisons the entire region. It makes one wonder why you persist.
In the end, #Kosovo* is represented in front of the UN building in New York by the red-blue-and-white flag of Serbia. Nothing you do or say will change that. Ever.
A Serbian minister, while campaigning, promised his audience that "he would once again raise their flag" in Kosovo.
Such inflammatory language might be brushed aside as political posturing were it not for the very real danger of emboldening those prepared to act on it. We have seen this before, too many times. #Banjska, where full accountability remains outstanding, stands as a stark reminder of what can happen when words become actions.
#Albania remains firmly convinced that the only path forward, however difficult, lies in good neighbourly relations, regional cooperation, and genuine efforts to heal the wounds of the past and advance towards reconciliation.
But there can be no sustainable regional cooperation while realities are denied, the legitimacy of neighbours is questioned, or threatening rhetoric is used for political gain.
Building peace and trust takes time, often years, if not decades. It requires vision, courage, determination, and sustained commitment.
#Europe itself was built on recognition, dialogue, mutual respect, and solidarity, not on denial, intimidation, or nostalgia for the past.
In the #WesternBalkans, we know all too well where division, nationalism, and inflammatory rhetoric can lead. We cannot afford to forget those lessons, let alone repeat them.
The Republic of #Kosova is an irreversible reality. It is a sovereign, democratic state, an equal part of our region, and a country steadily consolidating its place in the European and international community. It is home to all its citizens, regardless of ethnicity, and its future must be one of peace, security, inclusion, and European integration.
Albania has stood by #Kosova and will continue to support it in every possible way.
We see this not only as a commitment rooted in our close bonds, but also as a strategic investment in our shared #European future and in the peace, security, and prosperity of the entire region.

Let me share with our EU partners two more videos showing just how fantastically innovative the Student List campaign is, and the kinds of threats and humiliation people in Serbia, especially women, have to endure. Both videos are published by individuals who wholeheartedly support the Student List, and openly threaten that, following their supposed victory in the elections on the 25th of October, they will do whatever they want with people who voted for other political options.
They are openly asking their followers to suggest different ways in which they will deal with all the women and girls who did not support the Student List, as though women are objects and can, and should, be humiliated in whatever way the supporters of the Student List deem fit.
One of the videos promises those voting for the Student List that, if they win the elections on the 25th of October, they will be able to walk all over everyone else as soon as the 26th of October.
This is an unprecedented display of pressure on voters, especially women - it is critical to note the open threats being made against people that they will be imprisoned, tortured, and in different ways humiliated if they do not vote for a particular political option, in this case the Student List.
This is not democracy. This is anti-democracy.

I call on all our European partners and all political groups in the @Europarl_EN to watch this video and state clearly whether these are the values that reflect democracy and free elections. It is extremely important, in the midst of the election campaign in Serbia, for all to see the uniqueness of what so many people in Serbia have to endure simply because they do not support the Student List.
In this video, they are calling on people to vote for the Student List, while promising to take justice into their own hands, arrest and inhumanely punish anyone who thinks differently from them. The final shot with the soap in a prison cell is a direct threat to anyone who has different political views, in this specific case, Aleksandar Vučić @avucic, that they will be raped and that this kind of punishment will be celebrated and promoted.
This is not a political campaign and should never be part of any election campaign. Serbia needs a clear vision and program for the future, instead of threats and hatred.
This is not democracy. This is anti-democracy.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video is a satirical protest montage by FDU students using authentic clips of Vučić to express rejection. It does not call for votes for the Student List or contain explicit promises of arrests, punishment or rape.

Kurti’s police officers who brutally beat Nenad Rašković from the village of Dren, tied him to a tree and abused him, breaking two of his ribs and leaving numerous hematomas, were returned to duty after just one month, apparently so that they could continue the torture of the Serbian people in northern Kosovo and Metohija.
At first, they tried to conceal Rašković’s abuse, but when photographs and irrefutable evidence of their mistreatment of Nenad became public, the perpetrators were suspended. However, they did not fool anyone, and that has now been demonstrated.
Their alleged suspension served only to deceive the public and provide Kurti and Sveçla with a facade before the international community of some supposed “rule of law and legal order” in Kosovo and Metohija, whereas in reality, the only policy of Albin Kurti is impunity for the terror inflicted on Serbs. For that reason, these Kurti’s police officers-torturers have apparently been rewarded today!
Following the same scenario, no one was held accountable for the shooting of brothers Stefan and Miloš Stojanović from Gotovuša, for shooting Milan Jovanović in the back while he was transporting pots, or for the shooting of Dragiša Galjak…
Will members of the international community once again issue statements saying that they are “following the case,” while Kurti’s violent police officers walk around freely instead of being held accountable and facing sanctions for their wrongdoing?
Surprise, surprise. Two #Kosovo* police thugs who severely beat Nenad Rašković have been reinstated after only a month-long suspension, so they can continue harassing local Serbs in the North. Given that Azem Kurtaj, who shot an 11-year-old Serbian boy, walks free after only two months in custody, this establishes a clear pattern of impunity for the spearheads of provisional PM Kurti’s campaign of fire and fury against the Serbian people (who, according to Kurti and his accomplices, are not even to be called a people).
🚨 Outrageous: #Kosovo* police thugs stormed Nenad Rašković’s home, beat him senseless, dragged him into the woods, tied him to a tree and tortured him with a hose, demanding he “confess” wartime crimes. This is no isolated incident. It is systematic repression, harassment and intimidation of Serbs in Kosovo*. As provisional PM Kurti stated 3 years ago: “Serbs will have to suffer and pay.” Mere figure of speech? Or the conveniently ignored manifesto of his escalating campaign of fire and fury? The international community must act. Now.

Overflight request went in on Friday, well inside the 72-hour rule. So much for the “procedure” excuse. Then comes the punchline. Konaković says the plane was meant to leave at 3 pm and he only heard at 3:05. The time filed was 15:00 UTC. That’s Zulu time. In international aviation. It is 5 pm local. A foreign minister who cannot tell UTC from the clock on his wall should perhaps not lecture anyone about protocol.

Elmedin Konaković is no longer behaving like a foreign minister. He is behaving like a man running a permanent election campaign at the expense of interethnic relations, diplomatic relations and regional stability.
Without any decision or consensus of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he has recalled diplomatic personnel, expelled Serbian representatives, obstructed regional cooperation, written to UN member states demanding sanctions against Serbia and publicly declared that “for war, a Serbia like this is enough.” He publicly celebrated his meeting with former wartime commander Sefer Halilović, and now appeals to the world to “act before it is too late.”
The only person creating an atmosphere of imminent conflict is Konaković himself.
This is not diplomacy. It is political hysteria and a dangerous attempt by one minister to conduct his own private foreign policy, bypassing the institutions constitutionally responsible for representing Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Serbia will remain calm. We will continue to protect peace, regional stability and the Dayton Peace Agreement in its entirety. We will not allow Konaković to drag the region backwards simply because he believes that inflammatory rhetoric may bring him a few more votes.
Responsible leadership is demonstrated precisely when circumstances are most difficult. President @avucic has repeatedly shown statesmanship and political maturity when tensions were at their highest, choosing peace, restraint and dialogue over escalation.
That is the kind of responsibility Minister Konaković has repeatedly failed to demonstrate. Our region needs statesmanship, not another generation held hostage by the rhetoric of the past.
President Vučić has clearly become the centerpiece of Konaković’s election campaign. Konaković can mention his name morning, noon and night, but it will not make him more capable, more credible or more successful at the ballot box.
You cannot avoid losing an election in Sarajevo by campaigning against the President of Serbia.

Once again, leading Bosniak politicians are openly calling for moves that would destabilize the Balkans, in utter disregard of the Dayton Accords that still underpin regional peace. Defence Minister Zukan Helez’s demand that Republika Srpska be dismantled lays bare a long-standing aim of Bosniak political elites, no longer even wrapped in civic language. Treating such statements as normal does not keep the peace. It indulges ethnic nationalism and helps push the Balkans toward the brink.

Serbia does not ask for special treatment. Only equal treatment. The strength of the EU’s reaction to recent events in Serbia raises an obvious question: are the same standards applied consistently across the region? A few past examples are worth recalling:
17 October 2025, Tirana, Albania: Thousands gathered in support of Hashim Thaçi and 3 other former KLA leaders standing trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity. President Begaj, PM Rama, and senior ministers publicly supported the demonstration, while authorities suspended motorway tolls to facilitate attendance. No official EU institutional reaction or measures against Albania followed.
5 July 2025, Zagreb, Croatia: Approximately half a million people attended a concert by Marko Perković Thompson, at which the Ustaša-era salute “Za dom spremni” was chanted and Ustaša-related symbols were displayed. Speaker of Parliament Gordan Jandroković and government ministers attended, while PM Plenković visited the rehearsal and later praised the event. The European Commission gave only a general condemnation of fascism and referred the matter to national authorities. No measures against Croatia followed.
2021-2022, Croatia: Croatian authorities repeatedly declined or prevented attempts by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to visit the Jasenovac Memorial Site and pay tribute to its victims. No official EU institutional reaction or measures against Croatia followed.
30 November 2017, Croatia: The Croatian Parliament observed a minute of silence following the death of Slobodan Praljak, whose convictions and 20-year sentence for war crimes and crimes against humanity had been upheld by the ICTY the previous day. Speaker Gordan Jandroković said parliamentary groups considered the final judgment “unjust and unacceptable”. No official EU institutional reaction or measures against Croatia followed.
11 July 2015, Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Aleksandar Vučić, then PM of Serbia, was attacked while attending the commemoration to pay tribute to the victims and convey a message of reconciliation. Although the EU condemned the attack and called for a full investigation, more than 11 years later no one has been indicted, prosecuted or held accountable, and no sustained EU institutional follow-up has been identified.
19 April 2010, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Rasim Delić, the former Commander of the Main Staff of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, had been sentenced by the ICTY for failing to prevent or punish the cruel treatment of captured Bosnian Serb soldiers by the El Mujahed Detachment. He received an official commemoration and the highest military honours, attended by senior state, parliamentary and military representatives. Chairman of the Presidency Haris Silajdžić and Defence Minister Selmo Cikotić delivered speeches honouring him. No official EU institutional reaction or measures followed.
24 July 2008, Zagreb, Croatia: Dinko Šakić, a former commander of the Jasenovac concentration camp sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for war crimes against civilians, was cremated in a full Ustaša uniform. Catholic priest Vjekoslav Lasić publicly glorified Šakić and the Ustaša-controlled NDH. Croatia was then conducting EU accession negotiations, yet no official EU institutional reaction or measure affecting the accession process followed.
None of these examples elicited a response the scale of which is now being seen against Serbia. If reconciliation is our common objective, selective condemnation and disproportionate political consequences cannot bring us closer to it.

There is no “Serbian people” in #Kosovo*, only a “community.”
That’s not legal precision. That’s erasure.
A people that built the monasteries, lived there for centuries, and still holds reserved seats in the provisional provincial parliament is suddenly a municipal afterthought.
You can rewrite the vocabulary. You cannot rewrite the history or the people still living it.
This statement is far more than a despicable attempt to block the election of a deputy speaker representing the Serbian people who survived the expulsions of 1999 and 2004.

Thank you so much, Jeton, for listing all the rights that are guaranteed to Serbs in #Kosovo* but are definitely lacking in practice. So let me break down your exact words:
- A community that holds 10 reserved seats in our parliament — yet some seats are regularly stolen by token Serb parties established and financed by provisional PM Kurti. On the other hand, the sole fully legitimate party representing the Serbian community, Srpska lista, is ostracized, deprived of polling-committee members, the vice-speakership of the Provincial parliament, and so on.
- A guaranteed minister — again, in practice, provisional PM Kurti appoints his token Serb to the cabinet, although even the so-called Constitution clearly stipulates that the minister must be proposed by the legitimate representatives of the Serbian community.
- Reserved judges on three of our highest judicial bodies — stating this on the very day a group of Serbian judges were denied the right to resume their roles seems like a bad joke.
- Its own "statewide" television channel — a channel that broadcasts provisional PM Kurti’s propaganda 24/7. At the same time, the Serbian people have for years been prevented from obtaining even daily newspapers from Serbia proper.
- The right to its own public university — also a bad joke, as the provisional government is doing everything it can to subvert and effectively shut down Priština University, temporarily dislocated to North Mitrovica, the only Serbian university in the province.
- A veto over any law or constitutional amendment touching its rights — in practice, that veto power is often circumvented by procedural misuse. The best example is the transformation of the so-called KSF into a formation that acts as an army in all but name.
Now, just a couple of items you conveniently forgot to mention:
- More than 800 incidents against the Serbs in the last five years.
- 257 Serbs detained on bogus charges.
- Free rein of a special, militarized, monoethnic Albanian police force in the North and the construction of permanent bases, leading to daily intimidation of the local Serbian population, including sexual harassment of women.
- The banning of the Serbian dinar in order to place a deliberate and heavy economic burden on the most vulnerable people within the Serbian community.
- The demolition of houses owned by Serbs, although the legal preconditions have not been met.
- Finally, the refusal to establish the Community of Serbian Municipalities, even though it is an essential part of the 2013 Brussels Agreement and the law ratifying that very agreement was adopted in the Provincial parliament by a two-thirds majority.
"The most disenfranchised ethnic group in contemporary Europe." That is what Serbia's Minister for EU integration calls a community that holds 10 reserved seats in our parliament, a guaranteed minister, reserved judges on three of our highest judicial bodies, its own statewide television channel, the right to its own public university, and a veto over any law or constitutional amendment touching its rights. Every one of those is written into a constitution anyone can open and read.
And on disenfranchisement. In Serbia, Albanians' addresses are passivised, and with them go their documents, their healthcare, their schooling and their vote. Serbia's own Helsinki Committee calls this "ethnic cleansing through administrative means". The European Commission's 2025 report on Serbia records the same practice. That is disenfranchisement.
But it is not because Nemanja and the Nemanjas in Serbia do not know. It is because they do not care.
The Russian playbook does not require truth or facts.
But such is our task as Europeans, to dismantle Russian propaganda and its proxies wherever we find it.
