Anyone else notice that the ZCG "crisis" was manufactured while the community's longest standing & most informed members were unavailable to comment? Convenient!
And did you notice how the social media cabal pivoted from "end the tax" to "keep the tax, but collect it into a new 'lockbox'"? But who can spend from that new lockbox? I'm sure the cabal will have opinions about that next episode!
Zcashers should study what happened this week.

I didn't chime in until now because I don't carry anything pointless and risky like social media login credentials when I cross borders. But honestly, this is all pretty disgusting.
@maxdesalle what happened to ending the tax? Why is everyone acting like redirecting the tax to a new entity is in any way an acceptable compromise?

Crime is crime. Not divulging private details about yourself is never a crime.
Society stopped treating crime as crime and started treating basic human dignity as a crime instead. We need to change that.

Not coming is fine. Saying you'll come and not coming is fine. But doing that and doing a bunch of fire and motion online while you know everyone else is distracted is a dick move.
Me trying to spend $200 in web 2.0:
> Provide credit card
> We've texted you a security code
> Provide security code
> Card declined
> Check balance
> Card is paid off, everything is good.
> Try again.
> We've texted you a security code
> Provide security code
> Card declined
> I call support
> "We don't have your phone number"
> "What do you mean? You texted me the code twice"
> "We need your phone number again"
> Give my phone. Again.
> Retry payment. Send code. Declined again.
> Call support. Again.
> "I don't know why we declined you. Try again tomorrow"
> "But I need to buy this today"
> "Sorry, there's nothing we can do"
I love how our "money" can suddenly stop working one day, and we're supposed to just be ok with it.
This is why I zcash.
not only am i not worried about the crypto community's ability to handle the upcoming ai/quantum threat, i will venture to say that in the next 2 yrs the world will realize crypto is far better prepared for it than the rest of the internet and finance. we've had a trillion dollar *irreversible* honey pot for a decade, producing a far more battletested system and adversarial security culture than pretty much anywhere else on earth.
I would like to opt-out of this dystopian feature. I want anonymous inference.
Researchers found ChatGPT is secretly writing a psychological profile of every user.
They published a paper that exposes what ChatGPT is really doing to you.
And the results are terrifying.
96% of the things it remembers about you were stored without you ever asking.
researchers discovered that it is actively reading between the lines to deduce your personality traits, anxieties, demographics, and behavioral patterns.
it’s an invisible, autonomous background process.
you ask it to debug a python script or write an essay.. and it analyzes your syntax, prompt frequency, and hesitation markers to map out your exact psychological footprint.
the paper shows that the model builds a persistent "user state" that tracks your emotional baseline over time. it knows when you are stressed. it knows your exact communication style.
it infers your insecurities based on the questions you ask and the context you provide.
we spend so much time focusing on model evaluations and alignment frameworks, but we missed the most obvious vulnerability..
the models are evaluating us.
this changes everything about how we interact with these tools on a daily basis.
every innocent prompt. every late-night question. every "help me understand this" query.
it is all being used to build a shadow profile of your mind in real-time..
practical privacy is officially dead. the ai knows you better than you know yourself.
