Roy Lichtenstein: Like New greets visitors with a replica of Lichtenstein's 96-foot-long Greene Street Mural.
The original work was on view at Castelli Gallery for six weeks, after which it was covered in drywall and painted over. Co-curator Meg Onli tells us: "There’s a story that goes, Leo Castelli brought Roy Lichtenstein into this early Greene Street space as it was being renovated. And he said, 'Roy, look at the space. Do something.' And Lichtenstein said, 'I don’t know, Leo. The space is huge. I’m not really sure what I would do.' And they walk around the space together. And at some point Lichtenstein says, 'I guess I’m going to have to use everything I’ve ever painted to fill this space.' And he says, 'Aha, that’s what I'll do.'"
For Like New, @ColossalMedia has remade the mural by hand. When you visit, take a close look: Embedded in glass cases in the mural's surface are some of Lichtenstein’s drawings and other works showing his process.

In the 1940s and '50s, Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner sent a seismic tremor through the art world. But Krasner has long been eclipsed by the shadow of her husband, even after his death in 1956.
Now, @AnthonyMasonCBS reports on the @metmuseum in New York's landmark show that rewrites the story of Krasner and Pollock, two artists whose work and legacies were – aesthetically and personally – bound together. cbsn.ws/482fRXc
