Idk man followed the whole thing and watched alot of his friends perspective, I think the problem wasn’t just he texted a minor with small age gap(several actually), is that he was always playing an awkward but humble and genuine persona, but what he did was extremely predatory..

The next and most responsible thing to do is not only to cut tie but also let everyone know the problematic behavior, to prevent another future victim. Now the guy is so well known and frowned upon that he has not been able infiltrate another community anymore

Once you know a guy being deceiving and questionable and not improving , keep being at their side is just empowering the behavior. So I don’t think disowning him is a career saving choice but doing a responsible choice
