A week ago, @jasnell and I had a 2-hour long podcast with the crew at @JSPartyFM to discuss at length the state of the @nodejs project.... and why the reports of its death are greatly exaggerated.

Hey Node.js folks! I made another gift for you!
Ever wish you could free() a Buffer, because you know you're not gonna use it again? The extra perf would be huge, right?
Well you can! I've wrapped up the easiest way of doing it in an npm module. Enjoy! npmjs.com/package/array-buff…

Feels like I'm pretty close to wrapping up the first iteration of built-in FFI in Node.js. By far the biggest difficulty is the multitude of systems that Node.js supports.

in the max/msp community posting example patches is the norm when people are helping each other out.
chatgpt has picked up on this (probably by having the cycling74 forums scraped), and generates garbage base64 every time. in every prompt you need to ask it not to do this.

Hey there folks.
My son is looking for an entry-level job in web dev, software dev, cyber security, data science, or similar. He doesn't have a tonne of exp., but he is willing to learn and has a good heart + tonnes of enthusiasm. Does anyone need a junior/apprentice?

Fun facts behind the scenes: ChatGPT helped write a cost dashboard a few weeks ago to help control this feature so it could be rolled out in public. It even did some database migration code. All of these still had to be vetted by humans (your job is safe).
