Article emphasises his right to make his career choice. Discusses blurred state & govt line in our reality. Even mentions he doesn't necessarily become a bad person for this choice. the part some of you dont like is the reality the article raises about the govt & state he joins.
Goodbye Raymond, but do not gaslight us Do not gaslight us into believing that your decision to join government is simply a neutral professional move, or that we should celebrate it as an act of national service. Serving the state is not, by itself, honourable. The nature of the state you serve matters. Those who chose to serve apartheid South Africa could, by strict definition, be called public servants. Officials who used their knowledge, skills and positions to sustain brutal colonial systems in places like Congo could as well be said to be people who were simply doing their jobs. They were collaborators. They became active participants in systems of oppression. Their education and professional abilities did not make their service neutral. In some cases, those very abilities made the system more effective. observer.ug/viewpoint/goodby…

That’s if they work from Monday to Sunday. But considering 5 days a week, there are about 250 working days in a year (minus weekends and holidays). Meaning their vehicles cost close to 450k per day

What is even appalling is that absorption rate for these loans is at 45.5%, leaving $5.51 billion (roughly Shs20 trillion) in external project loans unutilized. Borrowing without EKIBARO @observerug

Oil companies say they have so far invested $3.1 billion in Uganda oil sector. Only after oil companies have recovered their costs, will oil revenue get split between oil companies&Gov't. Uganda's commercial oil production is expected by june-2027. Kozzi what is $3.1 Bn in Ugx?

To address these gaps, Gov’t allocated Ushs 180bn for construction of a global standard PET/Nuclear Medicine facility. This will be equipped with 3 PET machines and a cyclotron which produces radioisotopes/tracers. The first PET machine is expected this month and will be fully functional by end of year. The project also includes nuclear medicine treatment facilities, a SPECT scan (already installed) as well as cold kit production units. In addition, we are building several interventional radiology suites, endoscopy and colonoscopy suites at UCI. The project also includes expansion of inpatient and out patient facilities, radiotherapy facilities and construction of regional cancer centres in Arua, Mbale (upcoming), Mbarara and Gulu (already operational), bringing these services closer to people upcountry.

The now-deceased Tooro kingdom leader visited some high-end hospitals in Kampala after feeling persistent backpain. X-rays, MRI scans later, they told him they saw nothing. Being a person of means, he flew to a hospital in Nairobi where he was diagnosed with cancer. A year later he was dead. What did the doctors in Nairobi see that the Kampala ones couldn’t? Well, Nairobi has a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan or a few. Kampala and the whole of Uganda don’t. A PET scan costs about $3m (Shs 11.7bn) or approximately 17 Land Cruisers. If there was a meeting of government officials, you would run out of space to park them. That is how many we have in Uganda but a PET Scan is not something we have been able to buy and install yet. observer.ug/business/medical…

Orlando said he was stupid. The lawyer agreed that indeed he was stupid. The judge interjected and told the lawyer that he will not allow that. It sounds like the judge is the one who is leading the witness on what to say and if he says what the judge doesn't approve, the judge has rights to stop the lawyer from taking what the witness has said.
