π΅οΈββοΈ | Hi guys, welcome to all the new followers! Just a few things:
1. This and @spoilersriorson are my only accounts.
2. I do NOT have Instagram.
3. There are a few fan accounts dedicated to me on Instagram and Twitter. But that is not me.
I appreciate the support and all the new followers they bring! I personally think there are better ways to spend your time, but to each their own.
And as always, everything posted here is my opinion and speculation, not fact.
Thank you!
Oh and while weβre at itβ¦ only ONE main cast member didnβt post the S2 promo, again. Itβs getting harder and harder to find excuses.
Like, we get it, itβs not part of your contract to promote the show in your social media outside of promo season, but damn.
Of course theyβre allowed to make changes, but if youβre changing the whole essence of a character and storyline, at this point, just create a brand new show and see if it picks up.
The reason why Off Campus was so famous is because it had a massive fandom from the books. You canβt use the book fans for views and then completely change the stories theyβve supported and followed for a decade.
I love the comment bc baby, NO ONE, wanted βthis version of Garrett,β he was so bland and boring, and an asshole for leaving Hannah like that alone in the parking lot after seeing her abuser.
Belmont and Ella also teased Garrett enacting a βhands off lawβ, and we all know how that turned out.
The scene wasnβt just about a man calling Allie a slut. It was about her feeling guilty for hurting someone she loves, then watching someone who supposedly loves her, someone she spent years with, turn around and hurt her like that.
Thatβs a very real experience for so many women, and it deserves space on TV.
And letβs not forget that Garrett tells Sean to fuck off. Seeing a man call another man out on his bullshit instead of defending him matters, too.
I understand that family struggles are important, emotional, and make good television. But if Louisa is so committed to telling stories about green flags and red flags, the Sean storyline fits exactly into that conversation.
It shows how someone can claim to love you and still treat you cruelly when you make a choice they donβt like. A very real experience for many women.
Another one Iβll never forgive them for. If they couldnβt make witty Garrett a βgreen flagβ, then they werenβt the right writers for the show. There I said it.
Have we forgotten that the showrunners tried to pass the Justin-Garrett-Hannah love triangle as something real? And letβs not forget the whole Hannah-Logan situation, plus now they added Hunter-Allie-Dean.
Off Campus is not a love triangle type of showβ¦ these men were down bad the second they met their women and realized they loved them. Thereβs no love triangle here.
The reason why the books were so loved was bc these men YEARN for one woman and one woman only.
Get it together Louisa Levy.
Weβve got trust issues with the scriptwriters and showrunners since they took most of what made Garrett, Garrett, and turned him into a bland mix of sad boy and uninterested boyfriend who left his gf alone crying in a parking lot after she sees her abuser for the first time, book Garrett, the one who had the massive fandom that made the show successful, WOULD NEVER.
TV show fans will never know how iconic the βOf course I didβ & βCall Deanβ scenes are β¦ ποΈποΈ book fans know whatβs up β¦.
Also, I missed how Garrett called Hannah βbabyβ all the time in the books.
Iβm never going to forgive Louisa for watering down Garrett.
π΅π»ββοΈπ | Prime Video has confirmed the returning cast for Season 2, and unfortunately, Riley Davis isnβt coming back for S2, which raises a big question: what happens to the βCall Deanβ scene?
Sean is central to that scene in the book, so fans are understandably worried about how it might be adapted. My guess is that Louisa Levy and the team could lean further into the Allie, Hunter, and Dean love triangle, especially given where Season 1 left things.
Letβs also remember how Season 1 changed Garrett Grahamβs beloved βOf course I didβ scene. We could still get βCall Dean,β just in a different context.
What do you guys think?
π΅π»ββοΈ | OFF CAMPUS S2 WEEKLY RELEASE UPDATE:
After speaking with colleagues from other publications, we're all hearing that Off Campus Season 2 is considering a three-episode premiere, followed by weekly releases.
This would follow the same strategy Prime Video has used for its popular young adult shows, including The Summer I Turned Pretty and Maxton Hall, both of which released their entire first seasons at once before switching to weekly releases for the following seasons.
