She said by her 30s she was desperate to do serious roles, but casting directors kept rejecting her for being "too sexy," even when she'd pull up to auditions wearing a turtleneck and jeans. "Making that transition from child actor to adult actor is really hard... people have a hard time seeing you as an adult. At that time in my life when I was about 19, I was still playing like 14 and 15. And I made a conscious decision at that time to do the 21 Questions video because I knew that this could be a national commercial of showing people she's arrived as a young woman... and that's exactly what it did. But it worked so well that every role basically that I got for the next decade was the pretty girl, the love interest... by the time I got like 30 I was like, okay guys, I can do other things. I'd go in for something and be wearing like a turtleneck and a pair of jeans, and the feedback would be she's too sexy.”
