The Nakagin Capsule Tower VRChat world is now released! All 140 capsules shown as they were in 1972 (as near as I can manage). Lots of details and interaction. It will be improved over time. vrchat.com/home/world/wrld_a…

A little progress on the Nakagin Capsule Tower model, still in the basement but this time adding a few details to the boiler and oil burner. 1972 spec (mainly), with a bit of educated guessing to fill in for the only two low resolution 1972 photos I have. I like the way the stack damper control linkage came out.

Blocking out all the pipe routes for the Nakagin Capsule Tower for my detailed model. Nowhere near finished. I'm not sure whether this is driving me crazy, or whether I needed to be crazy already to even think of doing it. What was built wasn't the same as the drawings, and then it got modified quite a lot over the years, so its complicated. There is mains water, pumped CW, gravity CW, steam feed, condense return, HW feed, HW return, fire hydrant feed, oil, gas, cooling feed, cooling return, grey water drain, sewage, pump priming and a few other things so I run out of colours.

Nakagin Capsule Tower model update. The most remote basement room, above part of the mains water break tank, is also the simplest. A manhole cover, a fluorescent light, a smoke detector and three pipes strung from the ceiling.

Some 1F and exterior progress on my Nakagin Capsule Tower project. Basic textures, as this model is all about shape and dimension - pretty stuff will come later. As usual, some parts are speculative, as photos of some parts of the building from 1972 are scarce. I keep finding details I never noticed before.

A bit more 1F and 2F progress on my Nakagin Capsule Tower project. A fair bit of speculation and "educated guessing" needed as there are precious few photographs! I have learned that there were five colours of Eero Aarnio Pastil chairs in 1972, but have no idea which colours were actually used. The tables look quite like a 1958 Axel Thygesen design but aren't. There are potted monstera, dracaena and either a big yucca or small date palm about the place. Having fun with it!

After a long pause, back to work on my Nakagin Capsule Tower project. 1F and 2F sketches, 1972 layout. #nakagincapsuletower #
