Bitcoin explained in 10 sentences. 1. To understand Bitcoin, you first have to understand the problem it solves: money controlled by people. 2. There is a money-power paradox: if someone has the power to control the money, someone has the power to corrupt it. 3. Every form of money before Bitcoin had a central seat where someone could control the money, and because of that, every form of money became corrupted, including today's money, which is controlled by governments and central banks, which enables them to create money out of thin air and destroy the purchasing power of your money. 4. Bitcoin is a new monetary system designed to remove that central seat of power and stop monetary corruption once and for all. 5. Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, saw the corruption of money as a *trust* problem; we must trust central banks and governments not to manipulate the money, but the history of their system is filled with breaches of that trust. 6. Satoshi's solution was simple: instead of relying on trust to run the money system, use proof. 7. Within roughly 48 hours: JPMorgan formally modeled Bitcoin outperforming traditional asset classes over the long term. Fidelity published research presenting Bitcoin-backed preferred stock as an emerging capital-market demand channel. BlackRock pursued another Bitcoin investment product while IBIT experienced exceptional inflows. Imagine showing a Bitcoiner from October 2023 these headlines. They would’ve assumed you were crazy. And now it’s just a random Tuesday.

The smartest people I know are selling their real estate investments for Bitcoin. Real estate's 30-year bull run was built on three things. Cheap money, rising wages and a growing population. All three are reversing. Government bond yields are rising across most of the developed world, AI threatens the salaries people borrow against and birth rates are collapsing. When you can't leverage your income, you can't bid up house prices. Own the asset with a fixed supply. The Great Rotation.

A good definition of a slave is someone whose tax rate is 100%. All the fruits of their labor, all of them, 100%, go to a tax authority, the slave master. On the other side of that spectrum, someone with a 0% tax rate would be someone that’s fully self-owned, someone that’s fully sovereign. They keep all the fruits of their labor and they trade them freely with other self-owned people. That’s the opposite of a slave. You could call that a sovereign. We don’t have many of those people in the world today. They’re mostly what we refer to as sovereign nations. Most of us normal people just have some effective tax rate that we pay across all the activities in our life. Buying, investing, consuming, dying, everything gets taxed at every transaction in the modern world. So if you do all that math and figure out your effective tax rate, let’s say it’s 30%, my argument would be that you now know what percentage of a slave you are. You’re 30% slave and 70% sovereign, or free man. I’ve said it this way in the past and it triggers a lot of people, but I think it’s hard to argue with. We’ve come a long way. Today, something like slavery rubs all of our moral intuitions wrong, and most normal people would consider it abhorrent. Slavery still exists, less so in the whips and chains of traditional chattel slavery and more so in the less visible version called taxation, inflation, and statism. The Bitcoin mission and the Bitcoin thesis is all about creating a world with more sovereigns and ideally no slaves at all. Ideally, we want to get to a world where inflation is at zero, the central bank has been eliminated, and the market for money, the biggest and most important market in the world, is free. People are free to choose whatever money suits them best, interest rates are discovered freely in the marketplace, and slavery is finally reduced to 0% worldwide. That’s what we call the big bright orange future.

People ask me why Bitcoin over Monero. I'll give you the brief answer (the keyword is decentralization): As far as I can tell from my studies, every shitcoin, and when I say shitcoin I mean every non-Bitcoin crypto asset, is centralized, or at least more centralized, and therefore not decentralized relative to Bitcoin. Decentralized means you're not dependent people keeping their promises for the system to work. That's what Bitcoin optimizes for. It's a system that aspires to be, and relative to all other crypto asset networks already is, 100% verification and 0% trust. Every other shitcoin has a higher percentage of promises and a lower percentage of verification built into the system. Monero is no different. I don't consider Monero to be decentralized. There's a lot more uncertainty about its network, its consensus rules, and so on. That's my answer for all Bitcoin versus shitcoin questions.

The Next #2 on CoinMarketCap Is Being Born Inside Bitcoin’s Blocks 1/ Most people think the next big coin has to be a new app or a new meme. They’re looking in the wrong place. The real opening is something Bitcoin still has to pay for every 10 minutes: the people who keep it safe. 2/ Think of Bitcoin like a vault full of money. A vault needs a guard. The guard needs a paycheck. In Bitcoin, that paycheck is mostly the block reward -new bitcoin paid to the miner who finds the block. Every four years, that paycheck gets cut in half. Fees were supposed to replace it. They never really did. 3/ Simple example: You hire a security guard for a warehouse. You pay him $100 a day. Every few years you cut his pay in half. You hope customers will tip enough to make up the difference. They don’t. Eventually the guard looks for another job. The warehouse is still full. The protection is not. 4/ That’s the problem. Bitcoin cannot print more of itself to fix it. That was the whole point of the 21 million limit. So the network gets more valuable while the main paycheck for securing it keeps shrinking. You can argue about the price all day. The power bill still has to be paid. 5/ ethereum:0x249130f5e2dd4cf278180c0df8273f3592ad1247 is a second paycheck for that guard.
