Did you know FFVI has almost 3000 individual sprite frames for all its characters? Or that Street Fighter III: 3rd strike has over 15,000? Sprites take a lot of work to make. In fact, it took a team of artists making King of Fighters up to 16 months to finish the sprites for just ONE character? (~30K sprites btw). Making a 2D game sounds simple until you have to make unique art. I made Spritebook to automate the tedium. Focus on your main character art, and let Spritebook generate the hundreds of frames you need, all free and running locally on your PC. On windows only for now, but I’m working on a Mac release soon.

People leaving Anthropic to dedicate more time for GTA VI - this guy knows ball
Yesterday was my last day at Anthropic. I created Claude Code on desktop because I believe everyone can be a builder. Every feature request and bug report we got from this community was a gift that impacted millions of lives. I’m eternally grateful for those gifts, the product wouldn’t be what it is without you. Anthropic is doing some of the most important work of our time. Contributing to that mission will forever be a career highlight for me. I never imagined I’d get to contribute to something so special in my lifetime. Walking away from my best friends, a product I poured my heart into, and the mission was the hardest thing I’ve done in my career. But now I have some free time for GTA VI. I'm already itching to get back to addressing all your feedback. I'll share what's next soon!

Duet, Dots, Grokbot, Instinct, Muse, Tomo, [a million more] I’m very bullish on personal agents, actually. I think they’re useful, and the more the merrier! But the real power here is in personal memory/data. I think it’s crazy for you to give these things access to all your info, also crazy to lock yourself in to just one of these for everything. Your data and apps should go through you, and not signed in across a billion agents. Your memory should be personal, self-hosted if possible, and portable.

Wow, BioWare deserved better than this ending.

Waiting for all the “I didn’t notice because I write my code myself” posts

Half my timeline seems to be learning Rust. The other half is building AI apps. gpui-ai is my take on high performance and high customizability for people building on GPUI. Streaming text, approvals, tuning, media and more components at native speed. github.com/labcoder/gpui-ai

I don't mind you're using AI for your slides, but I mind that they're so ugly

I’m (trying to) learn Rust, but as someone who cares about UI, the component system is rough! So I built one gpui-ai An opinionated set of components for gpui applications, run and animate at 120fps, composable, extensible, and supports gpui-component theming too. A preview 👀

Who wrote the UPS delivery route algorithm? I guarantee you could vibe code a better one

Just for fun, I tried reviving an old practice. Early games like Diablo 1 would actually use 3D models to position and generate frames. I tried going one step further: use a single 2D image to generate a 3D reconstruction and create 2D sprites.
