Would you want everyone at work knowing what you earn?
The UK's equality watchdog wants employees to have the right to find out what colleagues are being paid if they suspect unfair differences.
I can understand wanting to know if someone doing exactly the same job is earning more than you.
But there's a difference between making pay fair and having everyone's wages become common knowledge.

THE DOCTOR WHO FOOLED THE CIA AND BLEW HIMSELF UP
His name was Humam Khalil al-Balawi, a Palestinian-Jordanian doctor.
He wasn’t an illiterate, uneducated extremist. He was a trained physician.
In 2009, Jordanian intelligence recruited him as an informant, believing he could help the CIA infiltrate Al-Qaeda.
The CIA trusted him. They believed he was their man on the inside.
They were catastrophically wrong.
On December 30, 2009, he entered a CIA base in Khost, Afghanistan, without been searched because they didn’t want to offend him. Once inside, he detonated his suicide vest, killing seven Americans (CIA officers) and a Jordanian intelligence officer.
He had deceived both Jordanian and American intelligence.
His allegiance was not to Jordan, America, or the intelligence officers who trusted him. He had chosen Al-Qaeda’s cause and was willing to sacrifice his own life for Islam.
He was a doctor. He was educated. He had a career and a future.
Yet he chose to become a suicide bomber.
Education doesn’t automatically defeat ideological indoctrination. A medical degree doesn’t make someone immune to ideology.
