Update: the whale is now submerged enough for it to be able to start moving away from the beach on its own shortly. A reporter in the area noted that the whale appeared "more lively" when the tide started returning. (Footage and photos via RÚV / Benedikt Sigurðsson)

The people that treat "Keiko died in the ocean" as a heinous injustice that proves seapens/releases can never work have never actually cared about Keiko, because they would have accepted "Keiko died in a tank" as an acceptable sacrifice not worth changing a single thing over.
