I don't really have intuitions for recognizing vibecoding, but that particular shade of maroon-tinted beige that every website uses nowadays is starting to get on my nerves.

“Around the same time” is an understatement. The partition of India happened in August 1947. The UN commission recommended partitioning Palestine too, on behalf of Zionists, on September 3, when the blood was still wet. They knew exactly what was going to happen

White women have spent the majority of the last 2 decades trying to look more ethnic or racially ambiguous that when you see middle eastern women now you think they look “white” these women are obviously middle eastern
thinking about my own mental health WRT AI & then remembering my high school teacher who spoke about her own commitment to an eco-friendly lifestyle despite how little impact an individual has in terms of a soothing behavior for mental illness. I hope she's alright these days.
I wonder how much of thinking about politics & philosophy is just finding ways to justify your own inaction instead of becoming a terrorist. I wonder how many people have had this thought before me.

Behind the low-IQ sputtering and teary tantrums, these people are mostly just afraid of their early retirement plans being disrupted. Right now, they're experiencing the exact anxiety they've inflicted on every other field.

I really hate that I keep having reason to talk about AI, but I think many people have not really internalized that there are literally high paid, capable people working in labs *right now* to develop something that they think will kill *everything* within a few years.

Spoke to an Anthropic employee today. They have a near-100% p(doom), but they think the only chance of survival is that they're somehow completely wrong about alignment and it turns out to be solvable, and the only way to get there is by accelerating capabilities as fast as possible. They were much more confident that humanity would never have the political will to do what needs to be done to stop ASI development than that alignment would be solved, even though they think alignment will almost certainly not be solved
They have not called their elected representatives to inform them that this is what they believe

It puts everyone involved in an uncomfortable position. Professional programmers are, by and large, virtually forced to use LLMs to some extent. It is almost irresponsible not to in some cases: if your LLM security review does not find the 0day, the bad guy's LLM will – at Bellevue, NE

"My technology will kill you if it reads your criticism" is not particularly good pitch in favor of said technology
thoonking too hard about AI lately & one thing about it is it seems to be part of a trend of technology increasingly empowering individuals, & if this goes too far it may totally reshape what counts as good politics imo.
like, I generally believe in certain personal freedoms...
just learned that the 3sg present tense of avoir in French is <a>. no diacritic, no initial h, no nothing. that's fucked up, it looks like a particle.

"joy and whimsy" = "i touch little ass kids"
"normal people: hi how are you" = "white power"
it's funny to think that middle korean had tone & vowel length that hangul simply didn't bother to represent, & modern korean lost both. king sejong accidentally vindicated.

I just wish that when we talk about literacy and boys someone would just ask a librarian for once. Maybe ask two or three or four. While most boys don't read (they see it as for kids or for girls), many boys do read we can tell you what they're reading.
The comments on this post are so insufferable it's not even funny. You thought the way people talk about like, Chinese traditional medicine was bad? Neonazis appear to be aiming to equal themselves to decades of that within a weekend.
