General sports analysis, occasional goofiness, mostly respectful political thoughts, music i like, expressions of faith, etc.
I have long-predicted that the US is likely to never have a GenX president, that we would just skip straight from a bunch of Boomers to Millennials. One GenX-er at the most (hopefully, Rubio).
The Texas Senate race was an example of that. From 1952 Cornyn to 1989 Talarico.
This was about one man, and his name was not on the ballot.

Vote to advance as much righteousness as possible, trust in the supremacy of Christ above all earthly powers, and remember that “history in its entirety and in its parts corresponds to the counsel of God and exhibits the glory of that counsel.” — Herman Bavinck
Between the Yankees’ Wells attempted triple & the Rays’ Mesa attempted steal of 3B, both with 2 outs, has the American League forgotten how to play baseball?

I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.

This is such an impressive, legitimately rare swing.
Just the 3rd left-on-left opposite field HR on an inner third fastball in all of MLB this season.
The other two were Ohtani.

It is the most extreme act of state power and that requires the most transparency possible.

The NFC East winning 0 games on a week in which two teams played each other feels like a pretty good encapsulation of the division at the moment
What a game! Best Keller game in my years here.

.@SecRubio: "Too often, these days, we build downwards. We design our standards to ensure that no one will lose. We preoccupy ourselves more with the comfort of the worst than the potential of the best. We hold the most exceptional things among us hostage to the average."
.@SecRubio: "The things we owe to this place as Americans — and as Westerners — are actually far, far deeper... What blossomed here in this place was the Western desire to uncover all that ignorance, darkness, and distance had kept hidden from the mind of man."

Capitalism has a curious habit of creating luxuries faster than socialism can declare them necessities. Two hundred years ago, free modern healthcare and today’s standard of living would have ranked somewhere between a unicorn and a personal dragon. Capitalism creates the impossible; socialism arrives afterward to explain that mankind had been entitled to it all along.
Last 3 halves without Lacy:
Ole Miss - 36
Opponents (LSU & Florida) - 69
Kewan Lacy will return for Ole Miss, as expected. He missed the Florida game with a shoulder injury. espn.com/college-football/st…
Agree… in theory. But we bought one 20 years ago for our youngest. He hated it. Rejected it like how you spit out a sip of curdled milk. His older siblings had pedals, so what is this freak thing?
One thing I'm thrilled to see FINALLY taking off in the states is balance bikes
If a kid starts on a balance bike instead of training wheels, they learn to ride a real bike way faster than with training wheels
Part of the reason for this is obvious: you learn to actually balance instead of having the training wheels do that for you
The other reason though is something called countersteering, which is one of those skills so subconscious it's basically impossible to verbally teach
You need to learn how to countersteer in order to reliably turn without falling, which is where a large part of the frustration comes in when kids switch from training wheels to real bikes
Balance bikes teach all of this naturally, and pedaling is one of the easiest skills to add
Training wheels are archaic, ditch them!
