🌸 2027 Yoongi Birthday Café Theme Introduction 🌸
“Under the Paulownia Tree with Yoongi”
A Flower Blooming at the Foot of Palgongsan, A Song That Colored the World~
This year's birthday café theme was inspired by the history and beautiful legends of Daegu, Yoongi's hometown.
Palgongsan Mountain, one of Daegu's most iconic landmarks, is said to resemble a phoenix spreading its wings and soaring into the sky.
Donghwasa Temple (桐華寺), nestled at the foot of Palgongsan, is also home to special legends surrounding the phoenix and the paulownia tree.
The temple's name originates from a legend that paulownia flowers once bloomed there even in the depths of winter. According to traditional Korean geomancy (pungsu-jiri), the site where Donghwasa stands is also considered an auspicious location known as Bongsoporan (鳳巢抱卵形), meaning "a phoenix nesting and embracing its eggs."
Within the temple grounds stands Bongseoru Pavilion (鳳棲樓), whose name means "the pavilion where the phoenix rests." In front of it lie three round stones symbolizing the phoenix's eggs.
Since ancient times, the phoenix has been regarded as a sacred bird that rests in the paulownia tree, symbolizing peace, good fortune, and auspicious beginnings.
Inspired by these beautiful stories from Daegu, I wanted to capture the image of Yoongi—a boy who nurtured his dreams in his hometown and went on to color the entire world with his music.
Like the phoenix spreading its wings over Palgongsan, Yoongi's dreams, which began in Daegu, have now reached across the world.
And like flowers blooming beneath the paulownia tree, Yoongi's music continues to blossom beautifully in the hearts of countless people.
This spring, please join us beneath the paulownia tree to celebrate Yoongi's birthday. 💜

It's so touching, and honestly a little surprising, to read comments from Yoongi lovers who traveled all the way from Seoul to attend the event. My coworkers and friends in Seoul don't seem to know much about Daegu, but there are actually so many interesting things to see and do here!
I'll put out the map again at this year's event and share it here as well. I hope everyone can enjoy not only the event itself, but also the city where Yoongi grew up. ^^
