Let's celebrate the humble dandelion, so important for wildlife and decorator of road verges #wildflowerhour
My mum helps a local wildlife rescue charity with birds that get handed in. This is the first nestling of 2018 and yes, that's a teaspoon. It's been eating! Fingers crossed.
While one lot were busy dying the other were making the most of the rainy days, filling up the irritating space in the fondant eke. Very helpful girls, thanks. #bees #beekeeping
Have lost two of my #honeybee colonies, first winter losses ever in eight years. Of the two remaining one (my best) is going for it, the other is small but should be fine. Feeling a bit miserable :( #beekeeping #Oxford
Equinox +1: morning sun on the hives and forecast warming up so took all the mouse guards off 🐭 #beekeeping #spring #Oxford

Concerned that this #minibeast cold snap is going to knock out the blossom that's flowered since the #beastfromtheeast 🌸 #beekeeping #Spring #Oxford

To celebrate Michael Gove's backing of the EU #neonicotinoid ban, here's a beautiful illustration of #bees and other #pollinators foraging safely on #wildflowers in the days before #pesticides
Painted in 1930 I think, but can't find the name of the illustrator
What triggers #honeybee #drone egg development, seeing as it's not fertilisation - is it an environmental stimulus from within the hive? #beekeeping
