Social media is built on the exploitation of your instincts. It is constantly compelling you to react so you can be better predicted, controlled, and monetized. To be free, you must overthrow the tyranny of your own reflexes.

@JustStop_Oil isn’t an environmentalist group, it’s a doomsday cult
These activists are authoritarian and anti-human
They want a world where we can do less, afford less, say less
Treat them with the contempt they deserve

There's so much being written and produced everyday, so much to read, watch, listen to, synthesize and know.. From experts and pseudo experts and aspiring experts, we bookmark stuff to keep up, yet never get to it all.
We're choking in data and information, but I'm not sure it's getting us closer to resolving the problems we are grappling with as a planet.
One group of people I respect though is those trying to solve the problems in their own corner of the world the best way they know. Their solutions aren't perfect, but they believe in them. They aren't based on research or policy, but life experiences and a conviction that there's a different way. And maybe, belief and conviction in helping your community is what it takes.
Community is the future, little acts of resistance that birth movements, and they just might do to Big Corp what Big Corp did to Big Government. Problem is we will have communities with opposing beliefs and politics but who says we all need to have the same views on everything?

To those who keep bashing individuals reading novels in matatus: readers don't read them for, or against, you. Your inferiority complex is self-imposed. If your attention span is TikTok & Obare's BNN material, stick to that. A book should not scare you that much.

BUT WHY DOES AFRICA NOT FEED ITSELF? LIKE WHAT'S THE ISSUE?
Take as much time as you want to think about what Professor Ali Mazrui said here. One of the biggest indictments on African leaders.
Yes, I know about the whole IMF and World Bank engineered ESAP thingy, but I think one of the biggest failures has been on the inability of African leaders to really take back land and ensure that Africans actually produce food.
The drive away from food production to the production of the so-called "cash crops" (tobacco, cocoa, cotton, etc) at the expense of food has been one of the biggest points of failure in Africa.
Our leaders allowed themselves to be told to abandon farming of food and focus on "cash crops" to earn foreign currency, yet that same foreign currency was wiped off in food imports.
We need new leaders Africa. We need the younger generation to rise to the occasion. We used to be self-sustaining and food secure. We still can be.
For remember: he who feeds you controls you. No civilization can grow while being fed by another. Africa needs a renewed focus on Food Production. Oh, and some serious protectionist policies. Throw out that nonsense about "open markets".
