BIG NEWS:
We’re learning that starting today, any app can hand Siri its own buttons 📱
Apple just opened a “Siri AI developer preview” in the iOS 27.3 betas (plus iPadOS, macOS and visionOS)
Per @mgorbach
You mark your App Intents as tools, and Siri can check a delivery, book a table or place an order inside your app.. in the user's own words
My favorite detail is that multi step workflows ship as "skills", and they're SKILL.md files. The same style/ treatment a lot of us already use to teach our agents
Here are some use cases:
• Reorders: "get me what I ordered last Friday" without opening the app
• Live Activities: while a ride is active, "change my pickup" works without naming the app
• Handoffs: Siri finds something in one app and sends it through another
• Evals: the new Siri Evaluations framework lets you script requests and catch breakage as your intents change
• Web devs: Siri reaches apps through App Intents, so a thin native shell around your 3 best actions is worth a weekend
The sheer scale is wild:
• 2.5B+ active Apple devices
• 2.5B+ Siri requests a day
• Nearly 1B weekly App Store visitors last quarter
• $1.4T in App Store ecosystem billings and sales in 2025
• 40+ of the top 100 apps had AI features, and they grew billings faster
The core challenge is trust in Apple itself.. we've been promised a smarter Siri before, and it kept slipping or showing up underwhelming.
Developers have heard this pitch. This time Apple has to actually ship it, and ship it well, before builders bet their roadmap on it
But somehow I have a bit of an extra hope this time .. because Apple won’t want to be left behind in the agentic era
Big news for our developers! We are shipping a developer preview that dramatically expands the capabilities of all apps to integrate into Siri. So excited to see what you folks do with this.

BREAKING: Alphabet, $GOOGL, Meta, $META, Microsoft, $MSFT, Amazon, $AMZN, and Oracle, $ORCL, have now disclosed a record $3.3 trillion in future spending commitments.
These are off-balance-sheet commitments covering data-center spending, future equipment purchases, leases, and other obligations.
$GOOGL accounts for the largest amount at $1.06 trillion, with its disclosed commitments surging nearly +700% over the last year.
$META follows at $866 billion, with nearly half tied to data-center leases that have not yet commenced and payment periods extending up to 30 years.
Meanwhile, Microsoft, $MSFT, has $593 billion in commitments, followed by Amazon, $AMZN, at $453 billion, and Oracle, $ORCL, at $322 billion.
The AI infrastructure buildout is creating an unprecedented pipeline of future financial obligations.

Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5:
hackertube.org/
- Excellent recs without any logins (state is kept in local browser session)
- Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads
- Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version
- HackerTube Longs ✊
A bit more on the process:
I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing.
Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.

I am pretty sure that underlying Dots something has changed in the last 2 weeks; it has become dumber and less reliable. Instead of autonomous, it has become a lazy agent which needs a lot of guiding and follow-ups. It apologizes a lot instead of doing actual work. #chatgptpro
