How do you follow breeding outcomes in shy, cryptic species? Quantum theory of ecology (can’t see them without affecting behaviour) in breeding #Curlew can be circumvented with careful use of good quality GPS tag data (hint: lots of regular locations!) thanks @pathtrackltd !
Really excited to see our article on identifying Curlew breeding status from GPS tracks in @Ecol_Evol! Many thanks to all our co-authors who've helped get this published. The work was funded by @NatResWales following @RSPBScience funding pilot tags. doi.org/10.1002/ece3.9509

Grey rocket plover! One of the 20 birds tagged last night with @pathtrackltd and @HQXSCN gps devices. Curious to see how these #waders explore #Tagus estuary in the next months. Ready for the next round! @infouex @eco_flyway @CESAM_Univ – at Alcochete, Portugal
Been mist-netting waders #Tagus estuary for the past couple of nights to deploy GPS tags on Redshank, Grey-p & Btgodwit. @JoaoRBelo1 will keep us updated on future findings! #biodiversity #conservation #ornithology #biologging @eco_flyway @GlobalFlyway @CESAM_Univ @UniAveiro

Where do #whimbrel breeding in the Northwest fjords of Iceland spend the rest of the year? Map below shows the movement of 3 individuals between 2021 & 2022. Routes are very similar to those breeding in the South (see our profile header image). #waders #shorebirds #ornithology
Winter is coming... And so do our waders! We already have everything ready for them: - Tags from @pathtrackltd ✅ - Antennas are set in some of the most important roosts in Tagus✅ - Motivation 💪✅ Only missing the coolest part -> Capture Waders Stay tuned! @eco_flyway

@ZeeuwsLand & @SLZeeland are working together with enthusiastic farmers to restore farmland nature in the #Patridgeproject. To study habitat use of breeding sky larks here, we have now tagged these birds for the first time @pathtrackltd!

Very pleased to catch this bird! We put on her logger 3 yrs ago, but she has managed to avoid being caught. The battery died 2 yrs ago, but still lots of valuable data on Tawny owl winter movements on the logger #Ornithology @hydrobates1 @Biology_LU @pathtrackltd

Maybe you know that Med storm petrels (28g) can travel up to 1113 km to reach foraging areas during breeding. But I guess you don't know how they select such areas. To learn more, read our new study skillfully led by @fdepa1 int-res.com/abstracts/meps/v… @MEPS_IR @pathtrackltd
