🚨🇷🇺 Russian journalist statement on his Ballon d'Or votes: "I voted for Harry Kane to win because he was not promoting himself like Kylian Mbappé or Lamine Yamal. The game, that's essential. I hesitated for two weeks to decide my vote. I would give three Ballon d'Ors, one to Kane, one to Yamal, one to Mbappé. If Messi won World Cup, he would win Ballon d'Or."

Trade: Colts have agreed to send eight-time Pro-Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, per me and @rapsheet. Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts are opting to get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency. But an all-time Colt now moves on to the Seahawks.

“So why is Ukraine’s security treated as the only concern worth discussing, while Russia’s is dismissed outright?” I have an idea
MAHIR
@mahiryunusa17h
Ukraine can have its own military. Nobody is arguing otherwise. But Russia also has security concerns, and those concerns cannot simply be dismissed because they come from Moscow. The issue is what happens when Ukraine’s military is increasingly integrated with NATO, an alliance Russia has opposed expanding towards its borders for decades. So why is Ukraine’s security treated as the only concern worth discussing, while Russia’s is dismissed outright?

I would argue that winning the Euros with 5 G/A (including in every knockout round) is actually very important.

What I meant is it wasnt that important either. The Mbappe performance was prime and will be remembered by all who watched. But a good match doesn't make you best in the world, consistency at the highest level does.

If you insist this award is about just the year, thats fine. But using this award to prop a player up when they havent warranted it is what gets on my nerves.

This seems to be a very difficult question for people to answer, so let me give some examples: Messi- Literally too many Ronaldo- Likewise Neymar- Copa America 2021 Final/Remontada Mbappe- 2022 World Cup Final Yamal- Goal vs France in 2024 Zidane- 1998 World Cup Final Xavi- 2012 Euro Final Iniesta- 2010 World Cup Final Modrić- Pick between the Trivela, his 16/17 UCL Final, or Argentina game R9- 2002 World Cup Final Ronaldinho- Bernabeu 2005 Suarez- CL final goal + David Luiz highlight Benzema- Both ties against City in 22/23 Aguero- “AGUEROOOO” Lewandowski- 5 in 9 (probably the weakest one) Hazard- Game vs Brazil, any one of his City (x2) performances/Arsenal in 16/17 Salah- City in the CL 17/18 Haaland- Dunking on Brazil De Bruyne- ALSO dunking on Brazil, the Real Madrid tie in 22/23 Van Basten- EURO winning goal Rodri- UCL winning goal Feel free to add

Mbappe has his World Cup finals, Yamal has his Euros campaign/Goal against France, what is Harry Kane’s defining moment of his career? Would love to hear your answers

What is the moment in "Yamal's euro campaign", isn't that an extended period of matches? If you need moments, from last season itself, hattrick in DFB final, g/a in every UCL KO match including Real, PSG

Once people stop treating the Ballon D’Or as a legacy award that makes or breaks a players career, the less upset they’ll be about the result of it and we can gradually stop acting like the opinions of a bunch of journalists as the be all end all.
