House prices have fallen by about double digits (!) in Canada/Australia, which are countries with floating-rate mortgages or shorter mortgage fixation lengths, but not in the US (from the @IMFNews latest Global Financial Stability Report): @JuliaAFonseca

Yesterday hurt. Today, @utkarsh__saxena and I went back to the court that denied our rights, and exchanged rings. So this week wasn't about a legal loss, but our engagement. We'll return to fight another day.

🤩Like many, I am so HAPPY. As Claudia Goldin started to work on gender inequality before it was considered an interesting topic in economics, and opened the way for so much fascinating research…
BREAKING NEWS
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2023 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel to Claudia Goldin “for having advanced our understanding of women’s labour market outcomes.”

Striking numbers: according to this new survey 88% (!) of Green voters support an import stop of Russian energy.
Looking at the overall population the number is 69%.
Replying to @Armin_Falk

Solidarity with Ukraine has its price, and most Germans are willing to pay it. Representative survey reveals majority willing to accept higher gas prices if this were to increase the pressure on the Russian government to #StopWarInUkraine .

Different firms pay differently for similar jobs. Who benefits from this?
20 yrs ago: blue collar workers, at big, unionized or generous firms.
Today: mostly managers and professionals, already high-paid due to skill.
This exacerbates inequality!

Plus it’s really the perfect time of the year for a trip to Copenhagen: days last super long, sea water is almost swimmable warm, high school graduates cruise around the city in open top trucks wearing funny caps...
Re-upping this call for papers.
Do you have a paper on public economics and inequality?
Do you want to go to Copenhagen in June?
And hang with fun people???
