Seems to be cool right now to dump on GraphQL. But ~5 years ago I was working with a BE team who refused outright to make any UI-specific REST APIs, meaning we were calling 7 different endpoints, and doing 5 rounds of id-matching to build this simple UI.
Perf was horrible.
