James Acaster is a real one for what he did. Yes it's a game, but he has principles he won't sacrifice for a game. Top stuff, should be lauded all-round.

Harry Kane winning the Balon D'or is a big W all round

I'm not sure what's worse for OpenAI, Anthropic dropping Fable 5.X on DevDay, or not feeling they need to? Sort of hope Anthropic don't follow OpenAI's previous tactics of trying to steal everybody else's thunder on big release days. Let's see what happens

VAR was supposed to *eradicate* errors from the game. Instead, it adds another step where human error can occur. It may slightly reduce errors overall, but none of it is worth the cost.

Why aren't AI labs forced to know/be able to verify if they have trained on, or otherwise used, user data? Surely has to change. If the price is slowdown, so be it. Labs say they want that anyway. Similar to Social Media co's not being liable for the things they publish.

"X is taken care of, you just have to review" As ever, 'just' is doing a lot of work.

Can't help but laugh when people say "I have a theory..." and it's the most obvious and mundane point of view that anybody would get to after thinking for a second or two.

Wartermarking and detection are the wrong paradigms for text. We should be building systems that verify at the point of creation - on device verification according to typing signatures and document diffs. i.e. Apple verifies the text written in Apple apps is human.

other software plugs in the verifier. Will never be watertight but it'll be better than what we currently have. There's a difference in how people type when they're transcribing or copying. @max_spero_ any thoughts on this?

Weather lads in tatters, forecast says 0% rain ahead it’s literally raining right now. How do they recover from this?
13
Why is everyone worried about replacing Kane? It literally does not matter. Spain have Oyarzabal up front and they will probably win the World Cup. We have ten Oyarzabals

England lack courage, and we need to figure out why countries like Spain produce mentally strong athletes and we don't. From 02-2025, Spanish teams (incl. national) went 27 unbeaten finals in a row. Not a coindence and not just in football
19
Warning signs were there for all to see against Croatia, Ghana, Mexico & Norway. Pcking random players for 15 minute cameos in the build up wasn't a good idea. The team had never played together, lacked partnerships and cohesion. Left the technical players at home Tuchel out
12
Bellingham is the clear replacement for Kane - old guard should retire from international football and let the new lads through to gain vital experience. We’ve seen this done successfully with Germany & Spain in the 00s/10s and now again with Spain in the 20s
12
And to make matters worse, Tuchel has a hydration break to impress on the players the importance of not dropping back. He then made the fatal 72nd minute sub, which revealed the end of our attacking intent. He should walk with head held low
10
Who could have seen Reece James getting injured? Who could have seen Argentina scoring twice when we sub off a winger for a defender? Everybody Thomas, everybody except you.
12
England once again forced to shed their skin. Pickford, Stones, Kane, Rashford, Henderson - the experienced core of the squad has to be replaced. Another rebuild beckons. And of course Tuchel should walk
9
Tuchel going 7 at the back is a disgrace, did he not watch England under Southgate at 1-0? What was the point in hiring a super coach if he reverts to unsuccessful type. Argentina win this easily now

As an England fan, if you're not looking forward to tonight then tournament football isn't for you. Enjoy it while it lasts Que sera, sera
