Let me tell you something absolutely BONKERS from last night’s midterms… Democrat Ericka Lomick just “won” Texas House District 93 despite being a convicted felon who suspended her campaign months ago. She pleaded guilty in 2011 to federal charges including mortgage-fraud conspiracy, bank fraud, and money laundering. Her sentence? 63 months in federal prison. On her candidate paperwork, she checked the box claiming she had not been finally convicted of a felony. After her criminal record surfaced in September, she suspended her campaign and stopped running. But Texas election deadlines had already passed, so her name remained on the ballot for both the regular general election and the special election. And voters still elected her by roughly 51–49%. Here’s the kicker: Under Texas law, a final felony conviction generally makes someone ineligible to hold office unless they’ve been pardoned or had their disabilities released. Meaning she can’t actually serve. Her “victory” simply creates a vacancy and triggers yet another special election. A convicted federal fraudster who quit campaigning still got elected to the Texas House. Let that absolutely sink in.

Midterm relief rally in full swing: equities surge as election paralysis fades, crude drops 8% on war-fatigue rhetoric, and safe-haven gold sits above $4,000. Yields dip as fixed income pricing in policy gridlock. Classic market lesson: relief from uncertainty eats macro fear.

3 things that are certain: 1. Government spending will continue to grow. 2. The government will need more currency debasement to finance that spending. 3. Wages will not keep up. Simply put, you can’t outrun the money printer by working harder.

You need to own the right assets or fall behind. Owning inflation-resistant assets matters even more than income. In the fiat system, owning assets pays better than selling your labor. -Doug Casey

Between tech capex anxiety, crude oil swinging, and midterm election jitters around the corner, the market is trying to price in a lot of uncertainty at once. Volatility is back, and cash flow is king again. Good opportunity to add to commodities and energy positions.

Alphabet and Microsoft just laid out the new market reality: GOOGL drops because "AI spending lacks margin discipline," while MSFT holds up by proving Azure is actually monetizing the capex. Wall Street isn’t demanding that AI stop; it’s just finally checking the receipts.

US stocks tend to rally following Midterm elections. The S&P 500 has returned +17.2% on average in the year following Midterm elections since 1950, the strongest return of any year in the Presidential cycle.

The index has finished higher in 17 of the 19 post-Midterm years during this period. Will this trend continue this year? Statistically, it’s a high probability bet.

Buying every dip works great until cost of capital actually matters again. Between macro uncertainty, sticky inflation, and heavy earnings ahead, this week will separate true earnings quality from leveraged momentum.
