“I have a message for American friends. Yes, Canada is a generous, open country and Canadians are tolerant and kind. But never mistake our generosity for weakness. Never mistake our tolerance for lack of determination. And never, never mistake our kindness for softness." — Former PM Jean Chrétien, speaking at 9/11 commemoration ceremony in Gander, N.L.

Canada has long stood shoulder to shoulder with the USA. Until the U.S. president began attacking us recently.
As US Ambassador to NATO on 9/11, the first to call me to suggest we invoke Article 5 was Canadian Ambassador David Wright. Our allies came to our rescue that terrible day. I’ll call David this morning 25 years later to thank him and our great neighbor Canada once again!

Arrived in Canada. Canada has been and remains one of our closest partners. We value all the support from Canadians and the decisions that help Ukraine stand strong and protect our people. Important meetings and agreements are planned that will shape our cooperation and solidify the already strategic level of our relationship for years to come. I will meet with Prime Minister @MarkJCarney. The main focus will be on supporting Ukraine in protecting our skies and preparing for the winter. We will discuss how to strengthen our resilience, support our people, and ensure that Ukraine has the capabilities it needs to defend itself. The First Lady has a meeting planned with philanthropists who support Ukraine. She will also visit Canadian equivalents of Ukraine’s “Schools of Superheroes.” Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine.

Thx to the strong journalism of @Ash_Stewart_ and Charles Rusnell, we're learning more & more about the hidden, foul behaviour of the separatist leader Rath.

Welcome to #Banff. Our national parks give us reason to be patriotic. Let's wrap our foreign policy in a green maple leaf: defense; nature protection; investment & trade. Consider the twin crises of our generation: global heating and the rapid loss of life & biodiversity.

El Nino is likely to be the strongest in 1000 years, taking the world into “uncharted waters” by piling more heat into an already rapidly warming climate, warns the UN. Next year will “blow apart” the record for the hottest ever. theguardian.com/environment/…

It was 20 years ago that I first heard of the devastating health impacts and cancer cluster in Fort Chipewyan, home of the Mikisew Cree First Nation downstream from oil sands tailings "ponds”. (Scare quotes justified because even 20 years ago those toxic lakes were so vast they could be seen from space.) Dr. John O’Connor, a physician who worked in the community, became a whistleblower - and was vilified and targeted for that work. Today, according to the First Nation, cancer rates in the community are at least 25% higher than the rest of Alberta, but we don’t know exactly how much because the UCP government stopped publicizing that vital public health data in 2022. And now the Alberta Energy Regulator, clearly captured by the industry, is going to let Suncor release oil sands tailings directly into the Athabasca river, without environmental assessment. This is part of a larger pattern of reckless de-regulation in Canada today, skipping environmental rules and Indigenous consultation on so-called “major projects”. As with pipelines and AI data centres, Danielle Smith and the Carney government are embracing this approach together. The anger in the community is searing, and it is justified. The quote from Billy Joe Tuccaro, former chief of the Mikisew Cree First Nation, says it all: "If this treatment release happens, within 10 to 15 years there's going to be nobody left in this community. I can fucking guarantee that.” Thanks to the National Observer for their essential environmental and climate journalism. nationalobserver.com/2026/09…

Scotland just delivered one of the most powerful clean-energy statements in modern history. On multiple occasions, the country’s wind turbines generated around 200% of national electricity demand, producing far more power than Scotland itself needed. It can be done!!! No time to wait. #ActOnClimate #renewables

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant stands at a dangerous precipice. After more than a week without off-site power, with diesel fuel reserves sufficient for only ten days, and with ongoing military activity and drone attacks threatening the site, the plant faces the real possibility of a station blackout—a condition that could lead to the loss of reactor and spent fuel cooling with potentially catastrophic consequences.

This is how fast oil use can disappear. China's reduction in oil consumption during the first half of 2026 due to the replacement of fossil vehicles with electric vehicles exceeded the UK’s entire oil consumption during that period. China’s CO2 emissions fall in Q2 2026 due to plummeting oil use carbonbrief.org/analysis-chi… @CarbonBrief

This was never about truth or a healthy debate, but about grifting off bigoted views of Indigenous Peoples and the trauma of Residential School Survivors. Making money of it is a new low for Rebel News.

My favourite part of the Bayeux Tapestry is Halley's Comet. It will next appear in 2061. Our daughter Irene, sings of it in one of her songs.
King Charles and French President Emmanuel Macron viewed the Bayeux Tapestry in London, marking its first display on English soil since its creation nearly 1,000 years ago reut.rs/3SJORHW

Put differently, there’s a fair chance that humanity will see more than a “doubling” of the global warming seen to date, by end of century.
A 50% chance of reaching +3°C of average global warming in 80 years, under a ‘Medium’ emissions scenario.
