Posted attic on r/macapps last night. 5.5k views, 30 comments, and it's now at 11 paid licenses since monday. This morning a buyer asked for a custom screenshot folder, so 1.0.1 went out today with it. $5 for the first 100: atticmac.com/?ref=x-week-1 What should it do next?

Claude Code and Codex settings that cut token use: Claude Code • /effort low (or /model) for routine tasks. thinking tokens bill as output • /clear between unrelated tasks. /compact is a big request itself, /clear costs nothing • keep CLAUDE.md under 200 lines, move workflow stuff into skills that only load when used • /usage shows what's eating your limits, with suggested fixes Codex (~/.codex/config.toml) • model_reasoning_effort = "low" or "medium" for everyday stuff • plan_mode_reasoning_effort: plan mode doesn't follow your normal setting • profiles: one cheap, one for hard bugs, switch with --profile which one do you use?

setting up a new Mac? free open-source apps worth installing first: • Ice: hide the menu bar icons you don't need • Stats: CPU, memory, disk and network right in the menu bar • AltTab: Windows-style alt-tab for macOS • LocalSend: AirDrop-style file sharing that also works with Windows, Android and Linux all free, all on GitHub. what's on your list?

New mac, day 1: 1TB free, clean disk, feels infinite a few weeks later: claude code, codex and cursor have filled it with caches, logs and old sessions you never look at that's why I built attic.com $5 once, shows what each agent left behind and lets you clear it

Touch on the mac is real. OLED, dynamic island, m5 pro/max, from $2,899 What apple says for mac devs: • existing apps work with touch right away, macOS turns touches into clicks • updated gesture APIs if you want more • nothing on hit target sizes or the menu bar So every mac app technically works. with a thumb on buttons sized for a cursor redesign now or wait for the HIG?

Apple says both iPhone Duo screens share the same aspect ratio, so your app just scales from 5.4" closed to 7.6" open the part I'd actually test is side-by-side multitasking. That's where I'd expect hardcoded layouts to break Anyone shipped a Duo-specific layout yet? xitter.gq/expo/status/2115420818…

Before you pay per call for OCR, transcription or translation, check what Apple already ships for free: • Vision RecognizeDocumentsRequest: reads documents with tables and lists, on-device, 26 languages • SpeechAnalyzer: on-device speech-to-text, built for long audio like meetings and lectures • Translation framework: on-device translation, works offline once the language is downloaded • Vision tap-to-segment (iOS 27): cut any object out of a photo with a tap • WeatherKit: 500k calls a month included with your developer account which paid API are you still using for one of these?

App Store Connect features most indie devs skip, part 2: • Product Page Optimization: test up to 3 versions of your icon, screenshots and preview against your current page • In-App Events: event cards on your product page and in search for people who already have your app. up to 10 live at once • Win-back offers: a discount only for people who cancelled their subscription • Phased release: an update goes from 1% to 100% over 7 days, and you can pause it for up to 30 • Featuring nominations: tell Apple's editors about a launch, at least 3 weeks ahead Which one have you actually used?

Honest question for people with a day job: how many hours a week do you actually get on your side project? mine is 6:30-9pm most days plus another stretch at night😅

How long is App Store review taking you right now? Mine sat in "In Review" for 16 days in August. no messages, nothing to fix. Now I'm seeing people at 30+ days🤯 What's your current wait?

Introducing leversmac.com for Mac  It hides the mess before you share your Mac screen: desktop files, Dock, other apps, menu bar clutter, gone the moment you share or record, and back when you stop. Also a backdrop behind the app you show, a quiet menu bar, Keep Awake, Lock Keyboard, and sixteen everyday switches in one dropdown. $5 lifetime, only 10 left ⏰

Apple's mac event is tomorrow and the touchscreen macbook pro rumor won't die If it's real, every mac app gets a new problem: buttons sized for a cursor, not a finger My menu bar app has targets way smaller than a thumb lol Mac devs, would you redesign for touch or wait and see?

Save it for later. Free tiers are great until you hit the fine print. the catch in each one I use: • Supabase: 50k MAU free, but the project pauses after a week without activity • Resend: 3k emails a month, only 100 per day • Clerk: 50k users, counted as "retained", people who come back after day one • Cloudflare Workers: 100k requests a day, 10ms CPU each • RevenueCat: free until $2.5k/month tracked revenue, then 1%

Claude Code saves every session in plain text on your machine. if it read your .env, that's in there too ~/.claude/projects, one JSONL per session, kept 30 days by default want less? set cleanupPeriodDays in ~/.claude/settings.json Codex keeps its sessions in ~/.codex/sessions

Claude code + opus has been my default. Now flash is in cursor at $0.60 to $0.98 per task Look at the chart. Opus still wins on the hard stuff, but the gap in price is way bigger than the gap in score. Anyone already switched?
DeepSeek V4.1 Flash is now available in Cursor! Every effort level sits on the CursorBench cost frontier: from $0.60 to $0.98 per task, no model scores higher. Turn it on in Cursor Settings > Models.
