All those younger programmers advocating “throwing that COBOL in the garbage and rewrite it from scratch,” don’t understand legacy systems. You should (almost) never rewrite from scratch, and (almost) never throw the legacy system away, it’s your institutional knowledge.

For some weekend positivity... Here is a fully reactive @angular built with @Ionicframework. Uses @ngrx_io's reactive component. And @Michael_Hladky new ngx-rx-state for managing local component state effectively. startrack-ng.web.app/

Delete unused code. Don't comment it out. Git history is a much better option to retrieve old work. Signed, "Is this still important?" and "Lol this code will live forever"

This is also part of my DDD story. DRY is important, but one can overdo it.
We often strive for code reuse at any cost. This way, we create tangled systems that are impossible to maintain and evolve. An excellent quote by Sandi Metz I often remind myself is: "Duplication is far cheaper than the wrong abstraction." buff.ly/2n1W2HW

Did you ever wonder what exactly "functional", "procedural" and "object-oriented" programming is about? You can certainly have fierce religious discussions about that (it's the internet after all...) but here's a little overview: academind.com/learn/javascri… @academind_real
