W Korea: The performance that’s garnered the most buzz on this tour is the duet “Lollipop” by NINGNING and GISELLE, right? It’s a dreamy R&B track—soft and fuzzy, perhaps, or maybe a little ticklish? Fans have even remarked that the performance “smells like perfume.” 🦋: We created this song during our 2024 world tour. I remember staying up all night in a hotel room in Amsterdam with GISELLE. I had just bought some music production gear and was deep into learning how to use it—I even lugged that heavy equipment around with me for the entire tour! GISELLE and I have been talking about music for a long time; we’re so close that we know each other’s musical tastes throughout the years. We started it almost as a joke—just wanting to create something together—and “Lollipop” was the first result. Looking back, I can see things I’d do differently now, but I still have a lot of affection for it. It was the first song we ever made, after all. I wanted to show everything—even the rough edges. Of course, it’s great to see how much we’ve grown, too. W Korea: “Lollipop” was a staple on my own playlist for a while. I also loved the lyrics—they’re such a cute expression of the affection you two have for each other. 🦋: As it happens, the word “lollipop” itself just came up spontaneously. When we work together, there aren’t any set rules. We don’t create with a release in mind, and there’s absolutely no pressure to make something “perfect.” We usually just meet up at home or in a hotel, talk about how we’re feeling that day, and then start working—whether we’re feeling sad, angry, or anything else. We’ve even made a track where I rap in Chinese and she raps in Japanese! We’ve even experimented with the rock genre.
