Jack Grealish is talented, big-hearted, incredibly likeable but heβs 31, unwanted by his main employer, has now let down his loan club and risks letting his career drift. Itβs sad to see. At his best, with the ball at his feet, Grealish is a true entertainer, always trying to make things happen in the final third with his balance, dazzling footwork and sense of adventure. Heβs generous off the field, helping many causes, the latest a Β£10,000 donation to a Southport family whose Evertonian dad has cancer.
Grealish is genuine. But all these uplifting elements to his personality and playing ability are overshadowed if thereβs not total dedication to his demanding profession. Thatβs time-keeping, refuelling correctly etc. Grealish risks wasting his talent, a special talent.
Whatever the nature and scale of the disciplinary breach at Everton, reportedly missing training, Grealish has let down a manager in David Moyes who gave him a chance and is short of players anyway. Grealish has an ability to keep possession under pressure that Everton usually could do with but they beat Newcastle United without him to reach the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup. He's let down team-mates and fans.
Do Everton need Grealish? Left wing, now left out. His replacement, Tyrique George is a completely different player, quick but raw. George is developing under Moyes (and Lee Carsley with England Under-21s) and an experienced manager clearly feels he can trust him more. George is 20 with his best days ahead of him. Grealish should be doing everything to prove his best days arenβt behind him. He should be fighting hard to keep Father Time and young challengers at bay.
Grealish, as he showed last season before injury, could have a significant role to play, could bring some magic to Evertonβs flanks, but heβs wasting that chance. He should look at the whole-hearted performances of the likes of Jordan Pickford, James Tarkowski, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and James Garner and want to be part of these band of brothers. Look at the way Hayden Hackney has been assimilated into a strong dressing-room - and impressed last night. There are good people around the club if Grealish needs help in any way.
So what next? Grealish will be costing Everton a lot in their share of his Manchester City wages. Pictures from Finch Farm training will be eagerly awaited as will any involvement in Mondayβs Premier League visit to St Jamesβ Park.
So where will Grealish go next? He did brilliantly getting Aston Villa into the Premier League, and did the Treble at City. Heβs achieved much but could achieve more with that talent. His City contract expires next summer. Heβs stuck on 39 England caps, and wonβt feature even on the fringes of the conversation when Thomas Tuchel announces his squad next week. Heβs now at a crossroads. Letβs hope likeable, gifted Grealish takes the right road, the one demanding total focus. #EFC

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
To all our incredible AFC Totton supporters,
I want to personally thank every one of you who got behind the team last night against Torquay United.
The passion, commitment and noise from the stands were fantastic, and once again you showed just how special this football club and its supporters are. Nights like these remind us that AFC Totton is about far more than what happens on the pitch, itβs about our people, our community, and the pride we all share in wearing the badge.
You were our 12th man, and your support gave the players that extra lift when they needed it most.
As Chairman, it makes me immensely proud to see our supporters standing shoulder to shoulder with the team, creating an atmosphere that everyone connected with the club can be proud of.
But we need you with us now more than ever.
We have ambitions for this football club, and we want to keep moving forward, building on what we have achieved and creating something our whole community can be proud of. To do that, we need your support, your voices and your presence in the stands.
I want to see the terraces packed, the ground buzzing, and our players running out knowing they have a whole town behind them. Every supporter makes a difference. Bring your family, bring your friends, encourage your workmates and help us get more people through the turnstiles. Whether you are a lifelong Stag or someone coming along for the first time, you are welcome here.
A strong, passionate crowd can make our home a difficult place for any visiting team. Letβs make every matchday an occasion, create an atmosphere that lifts our players, and show everyone what AFC Totton is all about.
We know that following a football club takes time, effort and sacrifice, and we never take that loyalty for granted. To everyone who travels home and away, buys a ticket, brings the next generation of supporters, or gives their time to the club, thank you! You are a vital part of this journey.
On behalf of everyone at AFC Totton, thank you for your unwavering support. We will continue to work hard, both on and off the pitch, to make you proud of your club.
Now letβs get behind the team, pack those terraces and make every game count. The players need you, the club needs you, and together we can make a real difference.

The majority of British pubs will not fall into the Chancellors Business rate reduction.
For me, this was a move to get headlines that theyβre trying to save pubs.
Extra wage increase will be the final nail in the coffin for many struggling.

Mealymouthed Burnham said he was going to help pubs. Instead theyβre increasing the minimum wage, business rates will still be higher than they were and now theyβre taxing alcohol more.
The man is a barefaced liar.

Thank you @BradleyThomasUK for highlighting the extremely high tax burden on the hospitality sector.
For every Β£1 a hospitality businesses makes, 82p is paid in businesses taxes.
This tax burden is unfair and impacting the viability of high streets and the creation of new jobs.

I expected to feel positive about the Budget tomorrow, but now I'm dreading it. I am worried - the mood music is off.
@andyburnham said hospitality should have a VAT rate similar to Europe & said the calvary was coming.
Tomorrow, we get to see if he was telling the truth.

Another 2p on a pint reportedly coming from Labour. πΊ
Pubs are closing, landlords are struggling and customers are being priced out.
Labour's answer? TAX IT AGAIN!
You can't tax an industry into prosperity.
@Sacha_Lord anything to say about your chum Temu PM?
So inept idiot John Healey is about to increase duty on a pint from 50p to 52p.
Why canβt he slap taxes on sweet shops, vape shops, Kurdish barbers, nail bars and tattoo parlours instead?
Not to mention those several, vast sweet shops on Oxford Street and across London.
Theyβre money laundering operations!
Labour claims to be the party of workers but fuel, beer, food, and energy costs have all risen under their rule.
Phil Lafferty π¬π§ retweeted
Without a huge reduction in Business Rates or a VAT cut in line with many of our European neighbours β¦ hospitality will bleed out.
Energy costs are becoming insane again, as there is no cap on business contracts.
You could see 100s of thousands of job losses.
THEY KNOW THIS !

Min wage rising AGAIN and 2p onto onto the cost of a pint.
@JohnHealey_MP has just finished off UK Retail and Hospitality. Job losses incoming.

The Government receives ten times as much from a pint of beer as the pub landlord.
How is that fair?
How is that sustainable?

Chancellor John Healey is set to hike alcohol duty and slap 2p on every pint in the Budget. πΊ
The government takes over 10 times more than the pub owner. The cost of living crisis is a cost of government taxation of small businesses crisis.
Phil Lafferty π¬π§ retweeted
This cannot be defended in anyway shape or form.
We have the highest alcohol taxes in Europe. Ranked number one for wine and. Number two for beer.
Do they want all pubs closed ?

What people don't realise (and presumably @andyburnham @JohnHealey_MP), is that if the minimum wage does rise to Β£13.20 - that actually costs the employer somewhere between Β£16.90βΒ£17 per hour. That's just not possible right now. Hospitality will be destroyed.
