Wholly astonishing in its empathy. Tao Okamoto is tremendous. The whole damn movie stops dead in its tracks for 20 minutes for its leads to dissect capitalism on a whiteboard. Ain't nobody doing slow cinema like this.

I've always loved these dreamy images of Eva Marie Saint in Frankenheimer's Grand Prix. a scene where her character Louise is falling in love with racing while she's falling for Yves Montand's driver Sarti. it's Louise's race - no other race in the film is shot quite like this.
