next gen design tooling is just a prompt you can paste into any project that adds a control panel over whatever youre building. software is disposable but we don't want to keep reinventing it... I think we'll see recyclable, brandless software soon. can we please call them plastic forks? 🙃
One thing that i absolutely hate about designing by prompting is the removal of controls In canvas tools of the past we tweaked, adjusted toggles and values and moved things around. This connection adds necessary friction to thinking things through at a deeper level To combat this I end up building disposable tools on local branches that help me refine details this way Design tools of the future need to allow us to continue crafting experiences, full control

theres a new third option here that goes unnamed and suddenly it feels like we're about to be surrounded by giants @deepfates 👀 "Thiel characterized cities as “immortal principalities,” in comparison to their mortal counterparts of people and companies. He identified important scaling differences between the two categories: cities scale superlinearly, growing more robust at size, while companies scale sublinearly, becoming ossified or flabby at size and eventually dying. Thiel quipped that, because of their relative immortality, negotiating with cities was like negotiating with demons. They face no real existential threat and thus have limited motivation to adapt."
For months, everyone has been talking about Peter Thiel’s secretive Antichrist lectures in Nashville. @gb_rango attended all four off-the-record lectures, held inside the historic Grand Lodge of Tennessee Free and Accepted Masons. Now, with Thiel’s blessing: a comprehensive, firsthand reconstruction of his sprawling theory of the end times, from AI doomers and one-world government to the fate of America. piratewires.com/p/inside-pet…

Her has aged so well because the heart of the story is about divorce with some of the most attractive women to ever exist. One is real, one is a machine, but both move on because Theodore can't keep up. It's a great story to process our own anxiety about being left behind by tech
Her (2013) is still the only good piece of art thinking about LLMs and that's completely an accident

helping @bdguan bring God to non-believers. (incredible branding challenge tbh) haven't enjoyed design this much in a minute. Became a Christian not that long ago. Didn't expect to get a chance to flex that muscle. As a survivor of '90s youth group culture... I get it now. This is correct.

our toxic attraction to phones is also true of laptops. desktop runs on deeper addictions more fitting to society and corporate workstations, like power and purpose, which we embrace, so its harder to see how deeply its hooks are in
