Incase we have forgotten- Gaala Ahmed, a 17-year-old girl in Dadaab, was murdered after being forced into a marriage she didn’t choose. Her story is not isolated, it’s a national crisis. We begin 17 days to demand justice and change.
Until justice is served.
Happy Mother’s Day .Today, we honour all mothers and especially those working tirelessly to protect the rights of girls and children.

From ending FGM/C and child marriage to advancing education, economic empowerment, and leadership, we must continue to break barriers and create opportunities for all.

To eliminate FGM, we need to raise awareness, enforce laws, and support survivors. Engaging communities in open dialogue and providing education are key.

In 2018, I joined a campaign honoring Jelida Gaichuiri, a 14-year-old who died from FGM complications. In 2025, visiting her memorial reminded me of the power of youth-led activism in pushing for justice and change. The fight continues to end harmful practices and protect future generations. @YouthAntiFGMKe @NinaSociety @UNFPAKen @AFGMBoard @GNBKenya
