You can find me on that other site these days - the one that's the color of the atmosphere when we look up through it! Same username. I basically don't post here any more, sorry.
.@HolidayInn Appalled that the fire alarm has been going off for 80 minutes now at 2am, it took 60 minutes for the fire brigade to arrive, and you had zero plans for wheelchair evacuation, didn't ring my room to check on me, and when I tried to call reception the line was busy.
That plus the SINGLE accessible hotel room in this HI Express smelling heavily of urine in the bathroom, the staff having no alternative to offer other than a clean (which didn't help), and the tiny lifts that barely fit my wheelchair means I'm certainly never staying here again.

Glad to share the piece I wrote for @Plantae_org about disabled scientists in plant biology.
Thanks to @plantpollinator , and @emilyxarmstrong for sharing your stories.
#JustIn on Plantae: Celebrating Disabled Scientists in Plant Science. In this new piece, ASPB Plantae Fellow, @malini_muthuraj, shares the journeys of two disabled plant scientists who are reimagining how plant science can become more welcoming. plantae.org/celebrating-disa…
Definitely worth mentioning Dr. Katie Wenzell @k_wenzell's hard work leading this project! She and my research associate Dr. Mikhaela Neequaye did fabulous work on this paper and deserve all the credit!
Really excited to say that my lab's paper on color transitions in Mimulus sect. Erythranthe is out! We found that some traits demonstrate evolutionary convergence in phenotype & genotype, while others are divergent, & that this matters for bee choice!

.@RoyalMail Your new CAPTCHAs are truly terrible... the items to match were hedgehogs and flowers, but apparently flowers don't count if there are also hummingbirds in the thumbnail image?! Half the time I can't even get past the CAPTCHA to figure out where my item is!
Has anyone flown with RyanAir with baggage (carry-on or checked) exemptions for medical equipment? I've read the website as to how to get an exemption letter to present at check-in, but any experiences would be helpful to hear about.
Hi @AmericanAir, please educate your gate staff on the manual collapsible wheelchair in cabin storage under the ACAA. Today I was told it depends if the crew luggage is there. This is not true, and even telling me that is arguably borderline legal.
New eMotion wheel for my wheelchair received - thanks @AmericanAir ! So great to have a working set of wheels again :-)
Soooo it's been 11 days since I reported my broken wheelchair wheel to @AmericanAir, and still no replacement. The outsourcing company (Global Repair Group) hasn't managed to get me a solution despite lots of back and forth, and replacement hasn't even shipped yet.
Also definite confirmation that the replacement wheel will not arrive in time to my temporary Virginia address, meaning this entire 2.5-week vacation I've gone without a functional wheelchair wheel.
.@SecretaryPete Is there a reasonable maximum time I should have to wait for a damaged wheelchair wheel to be replaced by the airline? I'm rather stranded without it and it's been almost two weeks since it was reported to the airline. Thanks for any advice your office can give!
