Harry Kane: “Thank you to Tottenham Hotspur as well. I wouldn't be where I am today without Tottenham. All the guidance, all the coaches you have allowed me to live my dream. For all those moments, all the ups and downs along the way has led me to this moment here today. To all the fans, Bayern, England fans, Spurs fans and all my fans around the world. I love you in this room tonight. The support you give me - I appreciate it all. I remember being a fan not long ago and what it means to play football. It was a dream of mine. Any time I can give back to you guys is an honour and privilege to do so."

The only reason there’s any uncertainty about who will win the Ballon d’Or this year is because Harry Kane put up those numbers, not anyone else.
If Mbappe or Yamal put up the numbers Kane did, everyone would already have unanimously agreed the trophy is theirs.

Real talk - I worry that winning will paper over our party’s bigger problems and slow us down from doing deeper interrogating and work necessary to build long-term sustainable power, let alone what we need in order to win in 2028. amandalitman.substack.com/p/…

This is actually a condescending view of working-class people. I grew up in a working-class immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster and The Cheesecake Factory for "fancy nights out." But even we understood that the White House should not look like the inside of a Red Lobster. Working-class people are not culturally illiterate just because their experiences are shaped by their limited means.
I'm getting TX gubernatorial ads in the middle of GA on a Saturday night. That's gotta be a prudent ad spend for the final push

One million percent this--Slow Horses is the best thing on Apple TV
Apple TV is home to “Severance” and “Ted Lasso.” But our critic thinks this underrated program is the streaming site’s best offering by a mile. newyorker.com/culture/on-tel…

The subtext of the Vivek ad - if you are abused as a kid, we will make sure it haunts you for the rest of your life and disqualifies you from a life of public service - is so bleak. There are already too many reasons good people don't run for office, and this will make it worse.

Banks flagged $1.5 billion in suspicious Epstein transactions. Regulators never investigated them. A new bill from Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Robert Garcia would force them to. @thisiscamaron has the details in Below the Beltway: bit.ly/489IsKd

No one should profit off backroom deals and insider trading while they’re supposed to be serving the public.
It’s time to ban congressional stock trading and stop the corruption.

Between scam PACs and the abusive text and email practices of legitimate PACs we’re probably honestly lucky our financial disadvantage isn’t worse. We have so much repair work to do before 2028.
What does it say about me that the idea of watching a long film about deception during an era that feels like a big con makes my stomach turn?
