If you're another animal, fighting an unarmed human is kind of like the terrestrial version of fighting a really big octopus. It's freakishly dexterous and can grab/contort you like nearly no other creature can, but it's also not that structurally strong.
Now, of course, Thylacoleo most definitely wouldn't have taken an adult Diprotodon on the regular. Hell, imo, a lot of marsupial lions would have went their entire lives without even trying one. The only thing in question here is if it ever happened, at all, and the-
diprotodontia after getting tired of making marshmallow-shaped herbivores and deciding to make the greatest line of mammalian predators to ever exist:
