ppl on bringing up the ao3 download button to make authors look stupid when in reality the overwhelming majority of writers are talking about uploading fics to the google drive without permission and i think it actually says a lot that you need to twist the narrative so much

opinions aside it's starting to piss me off to see ppl go "i'm upset that people are sharing my fic in google drives" & other ppl replying w "BUT THERE'S A DOWNLOAD BUTTON ON AO3". yeah girl & afaik that button doesn't automatically upload to google drive. waffles & pancakes!!

“you give permission to download your fics when you post them publicly” i mean. i post my art on twitter where ppl can download it but that doesn’t mean i want it reposted by ppl i don’t know. it’s the same principle; you don’t own something just bc it was free.
