In S1 ep 16 Erwin said that in next 4 years around 30% recruits who enlist in SC will die
The recruits:- eren,Mikasa,Armin, jean,Connie,sasha,christa, ymir,bertoldt and Reiner
Died :- bertholdt, Ymir and sasha
Exactly 30% recruits died in 4 years
You’re not the only one—this detail gets noticed on almost every rewatch and immediately sparks the same question. In that scene from the 57th Expedition, Reiner has just cut himself free from the Female Titan’s hand after she “caught” him; the steam is coming from Annie’s Titan blood evaporating off his body. Separated Titan blood is extremely hot and steams away almost instantly, which is why it looks exactly like regeneration.
The visual is so similar to how shifter healing works that it functions as perfect foreshadowing either way. Whether it’s purely Annie’s blood or a subtle nod to Reiner’s own abilities (he can even suppress regeneration to stay undercover), the animators used the ambiguity deliberately. Combined with the other small hints scattered through Season 1, it makes the later Armored Titan reveal land even harder once you know what you’re looking at.

Did Eren stopping the genocide at 80% mean something? Or it was fated to be that way??

Genuinely curious, why was CONNIE’S mom transformation into a TITAN stunted?? The anime never explained why.

Annie’s Titan was always called the hardening one, but then we found out hardening isn’t unique to her. What did the Female Titan actually bring to the Nine?

In a subtle but telling moment from Attack on Titan, the steam rising off Reiner isn’t just atmospheric detail, it’s classic Titan shifter regeneration.
As the Armored Titan, Reiner’s body emits heat and vapor while rapidly healing from damage sustained in combat, a visual cue longtime fans immediately recognize.
The clip captures the aftermath of a skirmish where the Survey Corps members note his strength and reliability before urging a retreat, underscoring how even in human form the shifter physiology leaves visible traces.
It’s one of those small, easily missed production choices that rewards close attention and reinforces the series’ consistent world-building around Titan abilities.

I used to wonder the same thing. The Titans didn’t just randomly overwhelm humanity, the Walls themselves were built from thousands of Colossal Titans that King Fritz created and then had the Founding Titan command to stand still and harden.
After the Great Titan War, he basically abandoned the rest of the world, took the Eldians who followed him to Paradis, and used the Founding Titan’s power to erase everyone’s memories so they would believe they were the last of humanity living behind protective walls.
Meanwhile Marley kept manufacturing Pure Titans and sending them to the island for years.
So in a way, humanity didn’t get conquered from the outside as much as it locked itself in and then got slowly fed more Titans from outside.
The “betrayal” was more of a calculated retreat and cover-up by the royal family than a classic traitor scenario.
Still one of the wildest reveals in the series.

People still argue over whether the Ackerman instincts were real or a complete lie, and this moment fuels the argument.
Mikasa is fully in protector mode, treating Eren like something she must keep alive at all costs, which matches the robotic loyalty Eren claimed.
At the same time, the manga and Isayama’s comments clarify that while Ackermans can awaken the combat experience of their ancestors, the idea that they are genetically bound as slaves to a chosen host was something Eren invented to hurt her.
What we see here is still powerful, but it reads more as years of genuine care and choice than some unavoidable blood-coded command.
