Ladybird experiments, part two. Now on Omarchy, with the browser picking up the Omarchy theme automatically. Translucent windows, film grain, theme colors, wallpapers bleeding through the sidebar. Two of my favorite projects in one window @ladybirdbrowser @omarchy

Ooh, this one I like. Wallpaper behind the window, blurred, with grain on the chrome, so the whole sidebar feels like frosted glass with a past. Pure experiment, zero regrets so far.
Rebuilt the Ladybird browser UI as a proof of concept. Why? Because I can. Page floats as a rounded card, three layouts, color themes, translucent chrome with blur and film grain, glassy tabs, wallpapers on the new tab page. 59 commits of pure madness @ladybirdbrowser

I have to say, I've been following Ladybird since the very beginning and the pace of the last few months is wild. It honestly feels close to daily-driver territory, and it's not even an alpha yet. A few months ago it was barely usable. Today nobody would believe that.

W tym roku po cukierki na Halloween przyszło tak mało dzieci, że więcej zjadłem sam, niż rozdałem. Bilans cukierkowy in plus, sumienie in minus.

New MacBook Pro wallpaper looks exactly like the vertical line glitches iPhone Duo owners keep posting. Finally some consistency across the ecosystem.

Love it when the store says my order has shipped, and the courier says it's only been "electronically registered". So it shipped in spirit. The body will follow later.

We really went from "you're holding it wrong" to a tutorial on how to close your $2,000 phone without killing the screen. Peak engineering is when the hinge works, as long as you perform the sacred thumb ritual every single time.
Here’s how to fold the iPhone Duo without Breaking it!

And watch out for dust, of course. Apple has plenty of experience with it after three generations of butterfly keyboards.

Built omarchy-all-backgrounds for when you like a theme's colors, but want a wallpaper from another theme or ~/Backgrounds. Uses Omarchy's own picker, deduplicates wallpapers, and adds readable pill labels plus up/down view switching. github.com/priard/omarchy-al… #omarchy

Why? My brain has a limited shortcut budget and every app wants a share. With the HUD you type what you mean, hit Enter, and pick up the shortcut on the way, since it's shown right there. Recent commands stay on top. Here it is in Flea by @thisisgm #omarchy
Asked who's building it. Apparently me. Proof of concept in Rust. Reads app menus from D-Bus, falls back to shortcut packs. Here it is over RAWmakase. 6 ms, 3 MB of RAM, zero mouse #omarchy github.com/priard/omarchy-hu…

Ubuntu had a great idea in 2012 and then quietly forgot it. The HUD. Tap Alt, fuzzy-type any menu command, Enter. Menus turned into a search box. Omarchy folks treat the mouse as a desk ornament anyway, so this feels overdue. Who's building it? #omarchy

Recent commands float to the top. With a small patched copy of Omarchy's menu (patch proposed upstream) it opens over the focused window, not mid-screen. No Hyprland plugin, no changes to the apps. Qt and KDE apps work too, via an opt-in registrar.

Limitations, because it's a proof of concept. It leans on Omarchy internals that can change any day. The Qt registrar hides in-window menubars, as under Unity. Other Electron apps and terminals export no menus on Wayland, so they need a pack. And you build it yourself with cargo.

Protip. Jeśli wychodzisz z domu i myślisz, eeee, nie będą mi potrzebne przeciwsłoneczne, to będą Ci potrzebne!

W drodze do Wawy, będę na chwilę, pewnie do końca dnia. W międzyczasie obserwuję temat podatności PHP i chyba czeka mnie aktualizowanie z jakiegoś parkingu, w nocy pierwsze lepienie poszło.

Two docks on one screen is one dock too many. Omarchy 4.5 rc1 adds its own on floating workspaces, so OmaDock lets you pick who stays. Bonus, the Omarchy button can open the app grid and apps drag from it onto the dock #omarchy github.com/thepathless/omado… github.com/thepathless/omado…

Since Omarchy 4.0.5 some bar plugins show black, empty cards (4.5 rc1 too). Blame Qt 6.12, which came with it. Its new Color type in QtQuick shadows Omarchy's Color singleton, so plugins get undefined. Two Colors walk into a QML file, only one comes out defined #omarchy

Bonus for older themes with only color0 to color15. Auto-filled colors can melt panels into the background and hide muted text. omarchy-theme-fill-colors adds missing keys with saner shades, backs up first, has --dry-run. One-line install in the gist gist.github.com/priard/aec57…

Plugin authors, switch to Commons.Color and nobody will need my script. Best kind of software is the one that becomes obsolete 🙂
